Generosity of Allah

Muhammad(S) said:”Verily Allah has written down the good deeds and the evil
deeds”, and then explained it [by saying]: “Whosoever intended to perform a
good deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete
good deed. And if he intended to perform it and did perform it, then Allah writes
it down with Himself as from ten good deeds up to seven hundred fold, up to
many times multiplied. And if he intended to perform an evil deed, but did not do
it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he
intended it [i.e., the evil deed] and then performed it, then Allah writes it down as
one evil deed.”
One of the attributes of Allah is that he is generous and his gifts never come to an
end.

Allah is Al-Kareem:”The Generous”

He is Kareem because of His perfection, His Oneness and His uniqueness in His
dealings with His creation.

Prayers: When we pray, the veil between us and Allah (swt) is lifted, as the
Prophet ‫( ﷺ‬peace be upon him) tells us: “Allah faces the servant during prayer as
long as he does not turn away.”

Moreover, we are forgiven for sins, as we are told: “When a slave stands and
prays, all his sins are brought and placed on his head and shoulders. Every time he
bows or prostrates, some of them fall from him.”

And finally we are given the gift of du`a’ (supplication) when we are closest to
Allah (swt), in sujood (prostration). The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬tells us: “The closest that a
servant is to his Lord is when he is in prostration.”(Muslim)

All of this to exemplify this attribute of Allah (swt)—He gives and gives, for such
a simple act in order to bring us closer.
Generosity of Muhammad(S)
When giving, RasulAllah ‫ ﷺ‬felt more joy than those who received
the gift. He never turned anyone away empty-handed from his house and always
gave preference to others over himself. He would give even when he himself was
in need. The following story is an excellent illustration.

One day a poor immigrant Arab came to the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬. He asked him to provide
him with something. However, that day the Prophet Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬had neither
food nor money. He said, “I have nothing to give to you right now. Go and buy
what you need in my name and I will pay the debt.” The individual was overjoyed
and left.

Muhammad(S) said:” The believer is not the one who eats when his neighbor is
hungry.”
Zayed the Generous
Emirati Humanitarian Day will be held each year in his loving memory and aims to
inculcate the spirit of giving .This initiative was launched by the UAE Cabinet to
highlight the key role played by Shaikh Zayed in supporting global charitable
events and his acts of goodness and kindness for future generations .

The whole world recognizes Shaikh Zayed’s huge influence in goodness.

He was a man who gave without expecting anything in return, one who translated
every good thing he knew into action. He directed assistance to all countries and
peoples suffering from poverty or lack of decent living conditions regardless of
race, sex, language or religion.

His vision always extended beyond the borders of the UAE .President His
Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad
Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and
Ruler of Dubai, all the other Rulers of the Emirates and Supreme Council
members, and all UAE citizens and residents, have continued to walk in the
footsteps of the late leader. Because of Shaikh Zayed’s generous vision, the UAE
is now regarded as one of the world’s most charitable countries.
Generosity and its effects in the society
We practice generosity whenever we ‘open doors for others’. A universal definition of
generosity, accepted by most traditions thus becomes, “The habit of giving freely from the
heart (e.g., time, skills, attention, and material goods) without expecting reciprocation,
acknowledgement, or gratitude.”

If we want love, then we must give love; if we want peace, then we must give peace; if we want
prosperity, then we must give prosperity to help others gain prosperity.

Even while at home, a knock at the door can provide an opportunity to convey personal
generosity and to expand life in unexpected ways

Generosity reduces stress, it also leads to confidence and success. Generosity removes
depression. It regains his sense of happiness and fulfillment.
