Indian Railways has acquired almost 95% of required
land in Gujarat, India, but has not fully taken possession
of land in Maharashtra for its bullet train project, Yahoo
News reported in July, citing ANI. Briefing the media,
Railway Board CEO and Chairman Suneet Sharma said
although needed land in Maharashtra has yet to be fully
acquired, discussions are “on with the Maharashtra
government. Contracts have been awarded and civil work
has started.”
In other projects, Sharma said work on redevelopment
of the Gandhinagar Capital is lining up other stations,
business-development units have been launched and
Wi-Fi has been installed at 6,040 stations. Also, Indian
Railways, last year, installed 156 lifts and 120 escalators,
bringing the total to about 800 escalators and 700 lifts.
Work also includes the gauge-converted, electrified
Mahesana-Varetha line and the electrification of the

The above discussed improvements will go a long way in
enhancing the safety of persons using or maintaining lifts. Of
course, the maintenance of lifts is very important, and keeping

EASE Cabin
❮
Polykastro, Greece-based DOPPLER, noting evolving market
demands and client expectations, has released the EASE cabin
series, which the company says was developed from its efforts
to provide “new solutions with upgraded capabilities.” EASE is
made of durable, lightweight materials designed to ensure
high quality through such benefits as ease of installation and
maintenance, durability and aesthetic choices. The EASE cabin
uses double-sided aluminum honeycomb and galvanized
steel-plate panels that are reversible, which can extend the
cabin’s life in, for example, incidents of vandalism or wear from
extensive usage. A wide variety of panels covers many aesthetic
preferences, from classic tones to modern, bold colors. The
client can also personalize the design by adding digital
printing.
Installation is completed in a few steps. The number of
requisite fixings is much lower than those needed for the
typical cabin. Assembly of the walls is done from inside the
cabin, saving installation labor time. Maintenance and
reversing the panels are also done inside the cabin. EASE uses
fireproof and waterproof materials in compliance with
European regulations, which ensures a safe rider experience.
