Additional thoughts about our meetings for new and prospective members:
Our normal meeting night is the 3rd Thursday of the months January through November.
We have a Christmas party on a Friday or Saturday night in December in place of that month’s meeting.
Our meetings start at 7:30 pm and usually run about one hour.
In January, April, July and October, we gather at 7:00 pm for our quarterly dinner before the 7:30 Meeting.

=========================================================
Please note: Our next meeting night is on the 4th Thursday, September 23rd. Also,
please note that the Spencer County Extension Office is already booked, so we
will meet at the Farm Bureau office next to the Burger Queen.

In the past few weeks four of our members have hosted a couple of wonderful events.

Robert and Katie Yount hosted their “Back in Time” event with 3 days of live demonstrations of steam and
tractor powered equipment, lots of fine food and entertainment, and a tractor pull on Saturday night.
Everyone from busloads of school children to pickup loads of professional farmers enjoyed the show.

Roger and Debbie Brown hosted their 3rd annual tractor show and drive. This event displayed a wide range
of tractors from Roger’s large 5020 JD to a very sharp Cub Cadet converted to look like a mini IH Super M.
Debbie catered a tasty lunch before the cruise and then folks departed on a scenic 20+ mile tractor drive.

We want to extend our thanks to these and the other members that put on these special events and note
that this effort and commitment is one of the things that makes being a part of this club so worthwhile.
We are sorry that we do not have pictures in this newsletter, but we could not decide which to put in, so
come to the Club Christmas party and we will have a slide show displaying these and other club events.

Upcoming events:
Our Tractor Pull Team, headed up by Jimmy Hance, has planned a full schedule of events for this 2010
pulling season. Our pulling team has joined together with the Central Kentucky Pullers to put on 13 events
for the year. All pulls will be listed on our Club web site at www.saltriverantiquepower.com. If you have any
questions on the pulls, please call Jimmy Hance at 502-220-6016.

The Lanesville Tractor Show will be held on Thursday, September 9th thru Sunday the 12th. Our Club
is always well represented at this event and a number of our members bring their equipment on Wednesday
and stay through the weekend. We understand that Oliver is the featured tractor this year.

The Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival will be held on Thursday, September 16th. The plan is to meet at
Maeser Master Plumbers located at 11101 Electron Drive (Look for the big yellow duck) at 5:00pm to set up
for the parade that will start at 6:00pm. Some members still find it easier to meet at the J-town High school.
Either way is fine, and you may pick up your dinner box at the staging area at the corner of Taylorsville Road
and Patty Lane in Jeffersontown. If you plan to attend this event and you would like to have a box
dinner, you should call Teresa Scherffius at 502-244-5279 by Monday, Sept 13th to get your
name on the food list. The Club is providing dinner for those who sign up.

The Antique Iron Club is hosting a tractor drive on Saturday, September 18th starting at 11:00am. You
are asked to arrive at the Oldham County Fairgrounds on Hwy 146 at 10:00am. There will be a $10.00
registration fee which includes lunch and an event tee shirt, and you will need a slow moving vehicle sign on
your tractor. All age tractors are welcome. Our contact is Sonny at 502-376-5235.

Cropper days will be held Saturday, September 18th. The parade will start at 10:30 am with staging at
9:00am. Set up for the tractor display will be late afternoon Friday and 7:00 to 8:00am Saturday by the
Bagdad #2 fire station in Cropper. Our contact person is Bryan Franklin (502-639-7833) or Glen Long
(502-487-0171).

Carrolton Farm Days will be hosted by a local church in Carrolton Kentucky on Sunday, September 19th
and will be held behind the Walmart store in Carrollton. This is a great family event with lots of free food
and entertainment.

More upcoming events:

The Finchville Festival, Parade and Show will be held Saturday, September 25th at the Finchville Ruri-
tan Club. The parade will start at 10:00am, so you should try to get there about 9:00am to get unloaded and
set up for the fun. As always, there will be plenty of parking for your trailer rigs and tractors. After the pa-
rade, there will be food, tractor games and an auction of many unique items. The auction proceeds help sup-
port the Festival. Our member contact for this event is Stewart Stratton at 502-722-5262 or 502-321-3737.

The Taylorsville October Fest will be held on October 2nd with a parade starting at 10:00am and a day
long venue of food, games and entertainment. The Festival Committee has set the theme for this event to
be “Down on the Farm” and they are looking forward to our Club’s participation in the Parade and other
activities during the day on Main Street. Our plan is to gather at the high school at 9:00am with trailer park-
ing across the street at the shopping center. We will stage our tractors in groups of 10 (plus or minus) so
that we can be inserted into the parade at different intervals much like we did last year. We will have more
details in the next few weeks, and if you have questions, the club contact for this event is Steve Scherffius at
502-244-5279.

Renfrow Valley is having their show on October 1st thru 3rd in Renfrow Valley, Kentucky. Several of our
members attend this event each year.

The Glendale Parade and show will be held on Saturday, October 16th in Glendale, KY with the parade
starting at 10:00am. We will gather at the Middle School on the South side of town between 6:00am and
9:00 am. This is a fun event for the whole family with lots of food and shops. Our club contact for this event
is Phil Worsley at 502-425-9579.

Plow days are coming up, but we do not have a definite date or dates for this yet because of the weather
and crop conditions. We will keep you posted through our meeting news, the newsletter, our web site, and
through our e-mail postings, if you are signed up for them. Our plans are for at least one plow day in Octo-
ber and for another one on November 27th, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Our Club Christmas party will be held on Saturday December 4th at the Finchville Ruritan Club in
Finchville, Kentucky with doors opening at 6:00pm and dinner at 7:00pm. This dinner is free to members and
their spouses that have participated in at least 6 club events.

The Shelbyville Christmas parade will be held on December 4th. We will stage at the Shelby County
Fair Grounds at 9:00am with the parade starting at 10:00am. Wear your long johns.
