Graduation Project & Academic Years

The Graduation Project was to design an interna-

tional airport terminal that could fit 12,000,000 psy
“passengers per year”
The challenge was to design an efficient terminal in
respect to time, circulation, mega structure roof
and natural lighting.

A MODERN NATURAL LIGHT SYSTEM

The roof alone was modeled in 3 days , with the help of Fusion 360
and Dynamo for Revit
It was a challenge due to the time given, to completely design a mega structur-
al roof that is design wise, structural wise and architecturally appealing to the
human eye.

Every Architectural element was modeled in Revit 2018 and Fusion 360
and then textured and rendered in 3DS MAX 2017 with 4K Materials
then rendered with VRAY 3.6 for 3DS MAX

Color Correction and additional tweaks added by Adobe’s Photoshop.

• Programmatic parameters
• LOS performance standards
• Demand/Capacity assessment
• Terminal facility requirements
• Ticketing/Check-in
• Passanger screening
• Holdrooms
• Concessions
• Baggage Claim
• Circulation
• Airline Offices and operations

PEAK HOUR CALCULATION : Based on the latest 2 slides. To calculate peak hour for
Sharm el sheikh airport expecting 12,000,000 annual passengers , the following ap-
plies : 10,000,000 to 19,999,999 21then the typical peak hour percentage of annual
flows = 0.045% Then 12,000,000 x 0.045% = 5400 passenger/peak hour
Then to calculate the number of gates required to tolerate the peak hour passen-
gers = 5400 ÷ 280* = 20 Gates *Based on the number of seats of the widebody &
Jumbo average planes by the EQA standards And to be sure : number of seats x
number of gates = Peak Hour Passengers 280 x 20 = 5,600

• By looking in the statistics of Cairo International Airport and compare it to our

In this project the goal was to achieve 4 or more advanced

wide span structure systems.
The design also had some intentional flaws and design
errors that needed to be solved ; by creating creative Designing
solutions. for example :
- horizontal circulation and
relationships between rooms different areas
- vertical circulation and
solving the main core of the stairs & elevator
