Clairty Journal System

Hi there, my name is Imran. I am writing this book/journal to inspire people to

think about their long term goals, break them down, and make their own
journal system in order to obtain them. In this document is section one of the
book.

I recommend finding a lined book or some paper to do the exercises later on

within the book. Printing it out is also a good idea.

It’s very important that you do the exercises on paper instead of typing. Even
though it may be more time consuming to write, it further embeds the words
into our minds, helping us to remember and recall them. It also puts us in a
position to think more critically since we think more about the words that we’re
putting into our own handwriting.

If you happen to print this document out, please take a picture and send it to
me. I would love to see it.
In memory of Jim Rohn, for indirectly
teaching me the life changing philosophies
that I’ll be sharing forward in this book

I wish I could have met him

Most people understand what a journal is

but now how to start a journal
Preface- My Story

This is not a comfortable topic for me to write about, but I will for whoever needs to
hear it:

Mentally, I was in a deep, dark place. I had no self worth, no reason for living. I had
no idea what I wanted to do with my life; in fact, there wasn’t anything I wanted to
do. I had no goals, no vision, and no reason to get up in the morning. During this, I
had no consistency nor discipline in anything worthwhile except for one thing. I had
been writing in a journal everyday. This changed everything. Without the journal, I
would most likely be in a worse place.

Keeping a journal has been a precious experience for me. It helps me understand
myself and the problems in my life. Being able to write down my thoughts has
helped me phenomenally. After writing them down, I’m able to ponder over them to
reach new conclusions that I wouldn’t have been able to without the journal. Doing
so, let’s me at look at the problems objectively and think towards solutions. Without
it, I don’t know where I would be.

While asking myself the right questions in the journal, my brain would come up
with the right solutions. This caused me to look for resources to live a better life.
I came across Jim Rohn’s past lectures online. Listening to his philosophies pro-
pelled me into a better state of mind. It allowed me to learn the right skills in order
to achieve my goals. Alongside the use of a journal, I gained the necessary clarity,
consistency, and discipline.

For this very reason, I have created this journal in order to help other people feel the
same benefits of keeping a journal and achieve their own goals. Keeping a journal is
an expression of thoughts, creativity, ideas, and emotions. Everyone is different, they
will each manage their own journal in their own way. This is why it is important each
person to build the journal system that is most effective for them.

After consistently keeping a journal, I have made some realisations as to what I find
effective. I have combined these effective techniques with great philosophies in order
to help you build your own journal system.

Introduction

The fact that you’re reading this is an indicator that you’re searching for more in life.
It proves that you have the intellect to search for the tools to help you progress to-
wards the lifestyle that you desire.

In front of you is a powerful tool that has been put together in order to propel you
into a better future. A tool which contains certain prompts and techniques to inspire
thoughts about the lifestyle you want and the path to obtain it.

“For things to change, you have to change” - Jim Rohn

It is in our inherent nature that for things to get better, we need to get better. In order
for more valuable possessions, more meaningful relationships and higher self-worth,
we need to improve as an individual. In the same way, to live an above average life we
will have to become an above average person.

We need to increase our value.

You may be thinking, how do I become a more valuable individual?

It begins with our thoughts. Each day we live our thoughts into the world. Whether
we know it or not, our thoughts determine how we live our lives. Our best way of
thinking has guided us to our present lifestyle. Thoughts lead to words which then
lead to action. If we want to become more valuable and progress towards our goals,
we will first have to change our thinking.

This journal has been designed to serve you as a guide in creating an environment
to develop your thoughts and philosophies. As we take in new information each day
in life, we don’t usually take the time to ponder upon it and it relate back to what we
already know. Built into this tool are methods and journaling techniques to aid you
in developing and reflecting upon your thoughts, to reach new conclusions and pro-
gress towards your goals.
Section one

The Past

Before we strive for our better future, we need to have a better understanding of the
past and our perspective on it. We have arrived at our current destination due to the
thoughts and activity of our past self. In order to reach our desired destination, we
will need to let go of the past that is harming us and let it serve us as a teacher.

The past is our ally, not our enemy.

Thoughts of the past can drown us if we give them permission. We must prevent
them from doing so in order to move forward towards our better future. We must
remove the baggage of the past. We have all made mistakes. We may have ruined
relationships, given up on our goals, lost money, or given in to bad habits and
addictions. These mistakes and experiences should teach us rather than harm us.

Past experiences are valuable treasures which we can learn from. These experiences
are resources which we can use to build us up and increase our value. We can easily
change the course of our future by shifting our perspective on the past today. Let’s
start by asking a simple question.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

This question inspires a whole range of ideas. The majority of people would advise to
stick to a certain skill, be more consistent, exercise more and stay healthy. These are
valid ideas which would have changed our past thinking in return for a better pres-
ent. Applying the same logic, we can think about what we can do today in order to
help our future. This is the first step towards the better future we are striving for.
A Designed Future

After letting go of the past, we can finally move towards a better future. Before we
start to move towards this goal, we must first define it. We want to live a life of design
and arrive at a designed destination. The outcome of not designing a lifestyle could
be far too disastrous. We may end up in a similar, or even worse lifestyle than our
current one. We cannot aimlessly move towards a destination without first knowing
and understanding it.

Three, five, ten years from now we will end up at a destination.

The question is where?

Everyone has the capacity to think about a designed future. As we begin to write,
some magical things start to happen. Our thoughts begin to flow as we start to think
about the possibilities that could be. We start to write things that we may have not
thought about beforehand. We may have thought that we were lacking in content to
write, but suddenly the pages start to fill.

While we’re writing , we begin to feel an excitement about the designed future. We
start to borrow the emotion, that one day this could become our reality. The more in
depth we write about our future, the more we begin to understand it and the path to
obtaining it.

Describing our future can have a powerful effect on us which can drive and inspire
us into change. Doing so, let’s us think about the character needed to live the lifestyle
we define. It pulls us towards it as if it were a magnet attracting us, allowing us to
think, act and feel like the person we need to become.

When writing about the future, we should describe it in as much detail as possible.
All of the little details are important. The colours, the sounds, the feelings, and every
other little thing we can think of. As we further describe the designed future, we be-
gin to develop a deeper understanding.

The more excited and inspired we become.

In the following exercises, don’t think about who you are in the present. Think about
the long term future.
Values
Think about the values and qualities which you aspire to possess in the future. Some
examples would be:
• A great leader • Strong • Generous
• Reliable • Healthy • Empathetic
Describe in as much detail as possible:
What kind of person do you want to be?
People
Think about the people that you would like to surround yourself with, friends and
family. Some topics to think about are:
• Meaningful relationships • Character traits • Do they inspire us?
• How do they make us feel • Do they celebrate winning with us?
Describe in as much detail as possible:
What kind of people do you want in your life?

• Size, amount of floors and room • Furniture
• Activities (gardening, swimming, gym etc) • Location
• Purpose of rooms • Colours

What would be your ideal health and fitness levels look like in the future?
Skills and Achievements
Think about the non-physical achievements and skills that you would like to have.
These may be things that help us achieve our goals or maybe even things that we
enjoy doing. For example:
• Read consistently • Learn a new language • Lift a certain amount of weight
• Be financially free • Journal consistently • Travelling to a new couuntry

Describe in as much detail as possible:

What kind of person do you want to be?
A List of Reasons

Now that we have a far greater understanding of our designed future, we need to
devise a plan in order to achieve it. However, before we do this we need to think
about why, not how. We need to start with the reasons for striving towards our better
future. The amount of skills and intelligence we possess is irrelevant if we don’t have
the reasons.

Reasons first, answers after.

One reason, one emotion can instantly turn a person’s life around. Emotions are a
powerful force that lead us to new thoughts and ideas. They lead us to change. Think
about all of the different emotions: anger, joy, fear, sadness, and more. The list goes
on. These are the catalysts which drive us to take action. Let’s use these emotions to
our advantage in achieving our designed future.

A person may feel so grateful for what they have that it drives them to be generous.
On the other hand, a person may feel so frustrated with their lifestyle that it propels
them into a huge change. The emotions lead to reasons. One reason is all it takes;
luckily, we can make a list of many. We don’t need to hold on to just one reason.

Reasons don’t have to be big. One small disagreement can make a person so angry
that it inspires them to prove the other wrong as much as possible. In the same way,
receiving one small act of kindness can change someone’s mood tremendously in a
way which causes them to carry it forward and help others in every possible way.

The smallest reasons can lead to the biggest difference.

We may have a reason as to why we want to change. It may be the most powerful
reason; however, some days it may not be enough to drive us. As we use the reason
repeatedly, it begins to feel exhausted of emotion. This is why we need multiple rea-
sons to always refer back to. On different days, we can have different reasons to drive
and inspire us. They will make us once again feel the emotion that initially drove us
into change.

As we put effort into achieving our designed future, the reasons will come to frui-
tion. On the other hand, we may encounter new reasons. This is why we should keep
a list of them. This way, we can hold on to them. No matter how small or big, we can
always reference them again later in order to feel the initial emotion and drive. As we
grow and change, so do our reasons.
Think about the reasons for achieving your designed future and the emotions
involved. For example:
• Being frustrated with your current circumstance
• Wanting to feel the excitement of buying and having a certain item
• Wanting to help a family member or someone in your community
• Wanting to prove someone wrong
• Being disappointed with yourself

You can always refer back to this list to add more reasons.
Write a list of reasons for achieving your designed future.
