BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES for biology majors (with lab) - (8 credits)


If you CLEP general biology, then another biological science course (8 hours) with lab must be completed
for this requirement.
MICROBIOLOGY/BACTERIOLOGY for biology majors (with lab) - (4 or 3* credits)

IMMUNOLOGY/VIROLOGY ( 3 credits)
You may substitute nutrition, molecular biology, cellular, or embryology although immunology or virology
is preferred.
GENETICS (without lab) - ( 3 credits)

ANATOMY (strongly prefer vertebrae comparative anatomy) (with lab) - (4 credits)


Kinesiology courses do not count toward this requirement.
PHYSIOLOGY (strongly prefer vertebrae comparative physiology) (with lab) - (4 credits)
Kinesiology courses do not count toward this requirement.
CHEMISTRY for biology majors (with lab) - (8 credits)

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY/BIOCHEMISTRY (with lab) - (4 or 3* credits)

BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES (Sociology, Psychology) - (6 credits)

STATISTICS ( with analysis of variance and/or multiple regression) - (3 credits)

COLLEGE ALGEBRA OR HIGHER - (3 credits)

*If your institution does not offer a lab with these courses, you will be exempt from the lab requirement for these courses only (3 credits
acceptable when no lab offered). All science courses must be for science majors. No distance lab courses accepted. All
prerequisites must be passed with a grade of “C” or better. GPA: All course grades are used in GPA calculations. Refer to program
information for method of calculating GPA’s. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies does not accept prior learning experiences to
fulfill prerequisite and/or professional course work credits as evidenced through written examinations, portfolios, demonstrated skills, or
health care experience.
Overall Grade Point Average (estimate) – 3.0 minimum grade point average

Science Grade Point Average (biology, microbiology, immunology/virology, anatomy, physiology,


genetics, chemistry for undergraduate and graduate courses) (estimate)

OTHER INFORMATION:

COMPLETE CASPA APPLICATION including all official transcripts and supporting


documents ( www.caspaonline.org) marked submitted and completed in CASPA by September 1
(midnight EST). Applicants must also complete the UTMB supplemental application.
COMPLETE UTMB SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION

FEES: CASPA (varies depending on number of program applications) and UTMB

GRADUATE RECORD EXAM (GRE) Results must be received by UTMB by September 1. GRE scores are

valid for 5 years from the date taken

BACHELOR'S DEGREE. Prerequisites and degree must be completed prior to matriculation in the program.
At the latest, must be completed no later than the spring semester of the year of matriculation.

CURRENT BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS or BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association is required
upon enrollment in the program and must be maintained throughout matriculation.
NOTE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to review all application requirements (prerequisites, grade point averages, etc.) and deadlines since these
are subject to change periodically. Documentation of matriculation in prerequisite courses by semester attended, in progress , or planned and
other requirements in as much detail as possible is required. Your application will be considered incomplete if there is missing information and/or
