SWIMMING SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

A. STAYING SMART AROUND THE WATER

1. Swim only in areas supervised by a


lifeguard.
2. Never swim alone.
3. Read and obey all rules and posted signs.
4. Only swim in designated areas.
5. Take extra precautions such as wearing a
life jacket.
6. Watch out for "dangerous too's": too tired,
too cold, too far from safety, too much sun
and too much strenuous activity.

B. WATER AWARENESS

1. Self Awareness
- know your limits
2. Environmental Awareness
- be aware of your surroundings
and environment when engaged in
water activities or near water
forms.

C. SUN SAFETY

1. Do not burn.
2. Avoid sun tanning and tanning beds.
3. Generously apply sunscreen.
4. Wear protective clothing.
5. Seek shade when appropriate.
6. Drnk plenty of liquids.

D. RECREATIONAL WATER ILLNESS

1. Check for clean and clear pool


water.
2. Check the pool.
3. Check for odors.
4. Check with the staff.

Watch out for your safety.
