Theoretical Foundation of Nursing.

Interview a staff nurse, a nurse educator, and somebody involve in research, or nurse
involved in other fields of nursing. Ask their definition of nursing. Compare your
answers. Why do you believe there are differences?
Ask a patient (those who have an experience to become a patient) to describe the role of
a nurse; then compare it with your view of nursing. Is it similar or different? and why?

Nursing is one of the most difficult and stressful profession now adays. We do all know that
being in a medical field is like stepping your other foot in a grave because you are risking your
life for the sake of your patient’s life by exposing to the virus of covid-19 or other viruses that
you can get from the ill person.

So, I interviewed one of my aunties which is a nurse in Saudi Arabia her name is Cecille
Casado Bulan, and I asked her about her definition of nursing. According to my auntie, she
stated that “Being a nurse is difficult and tiring because you will assist of many patients,
and you should give them medicine on time. But it is fun to do. I considered being a
nurse as my profession because I love to take care of other people. the patient’s health is
very important. you should always remember that because we are working to save their
lives and to take good care of them.” Well, for me it might be differ by other nurse, because
not all nurses, nursing is their profession they might think that being a nurse is tiring, because it
is just an occupation for them. But for some, they are looking at the good side and they love
what they’re doing like taking care of their patients even though they got tired that’s their forte,
caring about other people. But all in all, nursing is a helping duty and caring for patients is the
number one responsibility.

I also interviewed a Patient Gian Topacio, according to him when he got sick by Dengue virus
(DENV). He experienced that, “The nurse that handled me was so hands-on specially on
the medication that I should be taken on a specific given time by the doctor. the nurse
was so nice and calm, she always gives me advice on what should I do after I discharge
on the hospital, and she gives me trivia in some common medicines. the most thing I’ve
never forgot all of the nurse are very strict in their given specific task and schedule of
each patient in short TIME IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ALL OF THE NURSE EACH SECOND
COUNTS”

I agree with the patient that I interviewed because that is really the role of being a nurse. They
are hands-on to the patients and the medicines that they should take is accurate to the
prescribed medicines and actual time that it should be in take. Nurses is also responsible for the
needs of the patients and assisting them with care. And nursing is a profession that dea;s of
taking care of the people who has a health problems. So, my view of nursing is similar to the
patient that I interviewed.
Therefore, as a nursing student I conclude that being a nurse and other people who are working
in a medical field is not a joke. we should take it very seriously because the life of our patients is
in our hands, and they trust us to save their lives. So, we should take care of them and be
responsible of our jobs to become a great life saver.
