Shootout mode

A two player variant

Overview:
Each player controls a team of 3 characters. One team of Lawmen led by the Sheriff, and one team of
Outlaws led by the Renegade.

Each player will choose one of their 3 characters to be the leader of their posse, this choice will be
hidden from the other player. Your posse leader needs to be protected at all costs; when a posse leader
dies, that player loses the game.

Setup:
Players draw 6 character cards and choose 3 of them for their team. Discard the others. Note: Rose
Doolan is a non-selectable character. Her ability is useless in this variant.

Next, players will take their role cards and place them facedown next to the characters of their choice;
whoever you choose as Sheriff or Renegade is your posse leader.

When a character dies, flip their role card; if that character was the posse leader the game is lost for
that player. If both leaders die simultaneously (i.e. Indian attack) players will secretly reassign the
leadership position to one of their remaining characters. If a player has no characters left, that player
loses the game.

After selecting the leader of their posse, players will now position their posse.

During play members of your posse will be in one of two positions; “Taking cover” or “On point”. These
positions will determine the distance between characters, for the purpose of firing shots at another
character and which character can use their special ability.

At all times of play one, and only one, character will be “On Point” and the rest will be “Taking cover”

Turn Order:
Players alternate rolling dice and taking actions within a ‘turn-cycle’. A player’s ‘turn-cycle’ ends when
his last character has taken action. The new cycle begins, on his following turn.

1. Outlaw “On point”

2. Lawman “On point”
3. Outlaw “Taking cover” (players choice which)
4. Lawman “Taking cover” (players choice which)
5. Outlaw “Taking cover” (use the last remaining character)
6. Lawman “Taking cover” (use the last remaining character)

Note: When a character dies, the turns continue to alternate between players. The “On point”
character still takes the first action of a turn-cycle.
This picture illustrates the layout of your posse and your opponent's posse. The numbers here represent
the range between the members of your team and your opponent's team. Characters that are “Taking
cover” are 1 range further than those who are on point, and harder to attack directly. Characters
“Taking cover” at any time are not allowed to use their special ability; characters that are “On point”
however, are allowed to use their special ability, are able to attack the opposing player more easily.

At the start of a player's turn-cycle (the turn following your last characters actions), that player will
select which character will go on point and which ones will take cover. Once chosen, the “On point”
character’s special ability will take effect and remain in effect until he is placed into cover or is killed. At
the start of the current players turn, that players posse leader will go first. When the turn comes back
around, the player must declare which of their “Taking cover” characters is taking their turn prior to
rolling.

If a player has only one character left, that character automatically goes on point and gains 2 life points
(up to their maximum). This represents the posse leader taking their last stand.

Dice Rules/Changes:
Crosshairs – No friendly fire. If no enemy is within range of your shot, it’s considered a miss.

Beer – No changes.

Arrow – No changes.

Gatling – Damage only enemy characters. Arrows are removed only from character who was rolling.

Dynamite – Every member of your posse takes one damage, along with ending the character’s turn as
usual.
