CHAPTER FIVE

CONCLUSION AND RECCOMENDATION

5.1 CONCLUSION
Based on the analysis and calculations carried out in connection with world standards and
available related literatures consulted, Thus the conclusions.
i. From the economic analysis and project evaluation carried out in order to access the
viability of the project, shows that the total cost of establishing the chemical plant to
manufacture 5,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) per year from sulfur (S) is exactly
four hundred and forty two billion; three hundred and seven million, six hundred and
ninety two thousand, three hundred and seven naira only (₦442,307,692,307, $1.15
billon) ( with three hundred and eighty two billion, five hundred and ten million, six
hundred and ninety two thousand, three hundred and eight naira only
(₦382,510,692,308, $994,527,800) as fixed total capital and fifty seven billion, four
hundred and three million, eight hundred and forty six thousand, one hundred and
fifty four naira only (₦57, 403,846,154, $149,250,000) as working capital. The plant
will pay back the cost of investment within 7 and 8 years (i.e exactly 7 years 1
month).
ii. From the research carried out, it was concluded that by the year 2025, the plant will
run full capacity 100% hence experienced there will be a heavy cash flow then.
iii. Environmental impact analysis (EIA) was carried out in order to examine the
environmental consequences, identified likely causes of hazards, methods of
mitigation, treatment and solutions.
iv. The process flow sheet diagram for the proposed manufacturing process of Sulfuric
acid from Sulfur was drawn using aspen hysys which symbolically clarify each
process. The equipments were drawn using chemical engineering standard symbols.
v. Literatures reviewed necessitated the selection of double contact double absorption
process (DCDA) due its economic feasibility, product purity and environmental
impact.
vi. Detailed material and energy balance were carried out across the whole process using
aspen hysys to account for mass and energy flows throughout the whole flows.

5.2 RECOMMENDATION
Based on the analysis and calculations carried out, observations and recommendations were
made on the technical and financial viability of the designing the proposed plant. Thus the
following recommendations are necessary:
i. Indigenous technology and materials should be used to fabricate the component
equipment for the construction to be more economical.
ii. Qualified and experienced engineers should be employed and used for the material
selection, constructions and operation of the plant.
iii. There should be a full account of energy consumption as it affects plant economy.
iv. Hazard and safety review should be carried out and all workers should participate.
v. The safety of the workers, equipment and infrastructures should be highly evaluated
during implementation stage of the design.
vi. If by chance this project would someday be considered for setting-up, more in-depth
analysis and studies be carried out by the different respective professionals (For
example, an economist to handle the economic analysis, a mechanical engineer for the
mechanical design of the equipment etc.) in order to achieve higher accuracy, and also
to cover for the ever changing nature of technology, money inflation, among other
factors.
vii. If then this project is finally being set-up after being considered, it is recommended
that the plant operators observe all the safety guide lines, wear their safety gears, and
observe the laid down start-up, operational and shut down procedures of the plant as
recorded.
viii. It is recommended that individuals, partners and government with enough economic
backings can invest in the construction of the plant as economic analysis proved the
plant viable. This also provides employment to unemployed youth and in return boost
Nigeria economy.
