Implicant i a product/minterm term in um of Product (OP) or

um/maxterm term in Product of um (PO) of a oolean function.

.g., conider a oolean function, F = A + AC + C. Implicant are A,

AC and C.

1. Prime Implicant –

A group of quare or rectangle made up of unch of adjacent

minterm hich i alloed  de몭nition of K-Map are called prime

implicant(PI) i.e. all poile group formed in K-Map.

2. ential Prime Implicant –

Thee are thoe ucue(group) hich cover atleat one minterm

that can’t e covered  an other prime implicant. ential prime

3. Redundant Prime Implicant –

The prime implicant for hich each of it minterm i covered 

ome eential prime implicant are redundant prime

implicant(RPI). Thi prime implicant never appear in 몭nal

olution.

4. elective Prime Implicant

4. elective Prime Implicant

The prime implicant for hich are neither eential nor redundant

prime implicant are called elective prime implicant(PI). Thee

are alo knon a non-eential prime implicant. The ma appear

in ome olution or ma not appear in ome olution.
