Philosophy of Education

I believe that each child is unique and has something special that they bring to the world.

As an educator, I want to teach students in a way that will challenge them to become who they

are as people. I want children to meet their fullest potential in all areas by providing a safe and

secure environment. I can accomplish this by creating an environment that makes the children

feel wanted and welcomed, while also providing hands-on activities.

My role as a teacher is to teach children in a fun and entertaining way to where they are

going to want to come back to school to learn more. When a child is introduced to a safe and

loving environment, they want to learn new things every day. It can be hard for a child to want to

go somewhere every day when they do not feel wanted there. My responsibility is to teach

children but also in a creative way. As an educator, I want children to feel like they can speak

about their feelings freely. This way it creates an inviting environment where students and

families feel welcomed and comforted by the teachers and other students. Children learn to grow

a mutual respect for teachers when they feel it is safe enough for them to do so. It is very

important to maintain that inviting environment. This way it creates a very fun and enjoyable

learning experience for the children.

I believe that students learn best from participating in activities. I found that the children

learn better when they are given something to do rather than listening to someone speak. Giving

the child something to do also helps create the child’s creativity and development. The child can

take what the teacher is teaching and expand their knowledge and creativity beyond that.

Teaching with interaction is a key role in a child’s social and emotional development. Using

hands-on activities helps the child express creativity.

Beyond my role as a teacher, it is important that I am a good role model to the

students. It is my job to be a responsible, dependable, encouraging person. It is also my

responsibility to the children and families that I am a very good listener and dependable person.

My goal is to be these things in the children and families lives. I want the families and children

to not only think of me as a teacher but also as a role model. I believe it is my responsibility that

the families and children know that I am not only the teacher, but I am an encourager and a

person who cares about the children’s learning and growth.
