Reflection

We always have to be safe when on the internet. I know in my everyday job

of teaching I use the internet. It is not always searching for something but may

consist of going to a bookmarked site where I login. No matter what the situation

is, I want to be safe and model safety to my students when in the classroom. One

hardware change would be that I get a router that has a high encrypted password

for data protection and no outsider access to the wifi.

Two changes that would be made involving software is that I will get a virus

protection software and not save my passwords to the computer. By getting virus

protection, this helps to catch any viruses that can steal personal data that can cause

problems. It allows for another layer that adds protection to the computer. I will

not save my passwords to the computer. This helps to make sure they can't be

hacked and there is no background software that can tamper with them. Although it

is nice to not have to remember them, this is dangerous as someone can learn all

your passwords. This allows them to get access to financial information that they

should not have. I will try the app Last Pass to help with the passwords.

Habits that I will change are using the same password for many sites, clear

the history of that site, and blur our faces when using pictures when not needing

the face. When I use the same password, it can allow for easier access to my

information. I will make each password I create different so that my information is

not easy to access. I will clear my history so that it is fresh everyday. Lastly, using
pictures can be great but always should ask for permission. If you are not needing

the face, I will blur out the face so people who may see the picture can't figure out

the faces.

Overall, by doing these changes, I will be sure to model safety with the

internet and good habits.

Lesson

Concept: In this lesson, students will learn what is digital etiquette when using the

internet and/or social media. This is very important as technology grows because

students don't understand the concept of digital footprint. Everything that is posted

will always be there. Students will post something not realizing it is inappropriate

or bullying. Students need to know how to post respectfully and what are good

things to post. They will use digital etiquette when working on an assignment

together or commenting on posts in our google classroom.

A- My learners will be 2nd grade students. These students come from low

demographic backgrounds and low knowledge of the technology and internet.

Social Media is not used at this level so there is no knowledge of what that is.

S- The state standard is that students should be able to build a positive digital

footprint. For second graders, they would be at the beginning stages of it. Students

will learn specifically what is positive digital etiquette and how it applies to

assignments/posts (when get to that point).

S- We will use the strategy of “I do, we do, you do”. I will show them an example

of what is a good comment/post. I will do this by posting an assignment in google

classroom and then comment on the post. After modeling an example, I will have

each student go to the google document. In the google document, Teacher will

guide students in sorting comments into the positive or negative boxes. This allows
for students to see more examples while starting to understand the concept on their

level. After we do the sorting, students will attempt on their own. Students will

click the post called Quizzizz and will complete a short quiz on positive or

negative comments/posts.

U- Students will utilize the technology when they do the sorting. Students will also

utilize the website quizzizz when practice on their own.

R- Learners have to participate through the whole lesson. While the teacher is

modeling, Teacher will ask questions to the class for whole group discussion.

Then, students have to participate in the sort with the guidance from the teacher.

Finally, students have to do the quiz on their own which is also participation.

E- Students would fill out a google forum to give feedback on the lesson.

Questions would be asked that help to evaluate the lesson. This lets the teacher

revise to make it better.
