Instructional Design Approach:


Some UDL principles that enhance access to course material are low

physical effort, simple and intuitive, and tolerance for error. Low physical effort is

important because it is an online course. When it is an online course, everything

should be at the tip of your fingers. Student should be able to access all content

material on the computer. If we are requiring a lot pf physical effort, it is not online
but face to face instruction. Simple is the key to all learning online. You want

everything to be in an organized way. By having a day to day or weekly plan,

learners know exactly what is expected of them. Lastly, tolerance for error is

important to learn from mistakes and give feedback. If the tolerance is low, learner

can learn more from their errors. Therefore, giving immediate feedback to

activities and assignment can help guide in the right path.

Reflection

My expectations for converting f2f materials to online were it would be

hard. It takes a lot of time to convert documents for it to be accessible to all. There

were factors that you must think about in terms of internet and how do they get

access. I expected that many things don’t have audio or an opportunity to listen to
the text. This is major feature that should be added in every document. One way

the UDL principles improved my online learning unit is it made it accessible for

visually impaired or hearing impaired. It allowed them to feel they can learn too.

The resources I used were in documents that sound could be added. It makes them

feel confident in learning with everyone else. It also helped me to think of all ways

of learning and not just one way. It allows for every learner to learn in their own

way. There are many ways including hands on, hearing, or reading. One

modification that would be needed for a visually impaired is adding brail to the

documents. This would allow them to feel while trying to understand the words.
