Lesson #1: Creation Through Google Docs

A- This lesson will be conducted with 2 nd graders during reading block. Most of the leaners are from low

income families and poverty. Students will need to know how to access Google Classroom. The goal of

the lesson is for students to learn what dangers there are in turtles habitats.

S- The state objective is set up, share, and utilize collaborative workspaces, documents, or other digital

tools for uncommon and common collaboration.

S- All chromebooks are in the cart which is located in the classroom. Students will access the Google

Document through Google Classroom. Students will use the story that was read to them to help with

finding the details. The story can be found in their Wonders Literature Anthology book on pg. 164.

U- The teacher will read a story to the class. The story would be Turtle, Turtle, Watch out! By April Pulley

Sayre. After I read the story to the students, students would open the Google Document that is found in

the Google Classroom. The title of the document is Turtle, Turtle. Watch out!. Each group will work

together to fill in the chart that tells what dangers are there on the beach and in the ocean for turtles.

Below would be what would be found on the Google Document:

Beach Ocean
R- Students will receive feedback as they are working on there document and after turned in. I will add

comments to the document to help give feedback on how they are doing. The feedback will be the

information put in the chart.

E- I will evaluate the effectiveness by giving them a quiz on a Google Document. It would be two

questions: What is one thing that is harmful to turtles on the beach? and What is one thing that is

harmful to turtles in the ocean?

Lesson #2: Creation through Padlet

A- This lesson will be conducted with 2 nd graders during reading block. Most of the learners are from low

income families and poverty. Students will need to know how to access Google Classroom. The goal of

the lesson is to read an informational text and use important details to tell about the animal.

S- The state objective is set up, share, and utilize collaborative workspaces, documents, or other digital

tools for asynchronous and synchronous collaboration.

S- All chromebooks are in the cart located in the classroom. Students will access padlet through Google

Classroom. Students will use the article about bears to create their project. The link for the article is

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/group/bears-grizzly-polar-panda/.

U- The teacher will read the article about bears to the students. Before the teacher reads, student will

pull up the article through Google Classroom by clicking the link. Students will follow along as teacher

reads the article. After the teacher reads the article, students will open up the padlet in which they will

type their details on. As a group, participants decide what information to put on the padlet that tells
about bears. The link for the padlet is https://padlet.com/. This is just the general site as the specific

padlet, you would need a login for it to show.

R- Students will receive feedback as they are working on their document and after turned in. I will add

comments to the document to help give feedback on how they are doing. I will give it to the padlet that

is created with the information.

E- I would evaluate the effectiveness by giving them a quiz. There would be one question on the quiz in

which they tell me one thing about bears.

Reflections of Lessons

Lesson #1

This lesson was built upon the digital age by using google document. Google document allows

students to share with one another. It also allows each participant to contribute so that all are learning

from each other (Teaching Channel). Students are excited to be a part and have input into their creation.

Also, the teacher can add comments along the way. This helps give immediate feedback and helps the

student to improve on what the skill is. It also builds upon the perspective of accepting all answers and

not judging each others response (Nelson 2018). We think of the response in reverse by asking ourselves

“What can we do with it?”. It allows participants to take it to a deeper thinking of application then

judgement. Finally, it allows every student to have a voice. Students can be shy or scared to share their

response. This allows students to help each other and build each other’s knowledge in the topic. It also

allows the teacher to see everyone’s contribution to the project. By seeing everyone’s response, the

teacher is able to see that collaboration with each other. Finally, students are able to access the
document from any device that can get internet. This allows students to work on it outside of school if

need to.

Lesson #2

This lesson was built upon the digital age because it allows collaboration with each other

through the use of technology. Padlet is a space where you create a poster but electronically. Everyone

that has access to that padlet can post onto to it. It also brings in the digital age of collaboration because

you can post different medias onto the padlet. This gives creativity to students to post not only your

simple text box but can post a powerpoint, video, or voice recording. This gives everyone a chance to

post something in their own form that they are comfortable with. By allowing students to post in their

own way, it shows the acceptance of all responses while building a project together. It builds upon

everyones knowledge and is teaching each other in the process. When I say teaching other, I mean

learning information that you may have not known before. Also, it builds upon the saying “making your

partner look good” (Nelson 3018). What I mean by this is that you are adding on to others responses

which helps to make them look good. By adding on to others knowledge, it shows the confidence and

collaboration of the content and communication skills.
