For technical support, it requires User Registration. When you install this software, read <Software End-user
License Agreement> carefully before. You can complete < User Registration > by the instructions in the rear
part of this manual for technical support.
PACSPLUS PPW is running in the environment of Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003.
( Do not use in Windows 98 and ME environment)

We recommend you backup your data by DVD or external hard disc driver for preventing loss of your data.
We are not liable to any loss of data as a result that customer does not backup their data. In addition, we are
not liable to any loss or damage as a result of any forced operation, any misuse, or any arbitrary use without
our permission.
Please contact our sales agent in the case of any malfunction in PPW software, not in the case of hardware, OS
software nor third party’s product.

I. Introduce of PACSPLUS Workstation

What is PPW？

・ PACSPLUS Viewer PPW is a software utilized in patient treatment, education

activity, research activity and conference. It inclusive functions which
manages the search of medical images, display, inquiry and saving efficiently
in the database.
・ PPW provides functions such as DICOM storage, DICOM query and retrieve and
DICOM print by the DICOM standards. Accordingly, integrate with 3rd vendor’s
PACS product or modality is available.
・ When PPW interface with HIS (Hospital Information System) or EMR (Electronic
Medical Record), more efficient management of patients data and medical
image is available.

lReal size feature

Display real size of image and measure a certain area

1. Types of Real Size Display

1) Default Size Display：If there’s a pixel space info in DICOM header, automatically it will display as Cm with data.
2) Manual Real Size Display： if there’s no pixel information in image, it is not able to measure to display real size of
image. For this case, value of pixel will be displayed.
User sets monitors setting value by manually. （real size, resolution).

2. Manual Real Size Setting.

Ex) There’s no pixel value on DICOM header information of captured image

[On the menu, Image Process → Manual Real Size Setting → Monitor’s specifications]

3. Manual Real Size Mode

Setup manually and it applies other images.
(check / uncheck)

4. Display Manual Real Size

On the selected image, use the specification which came from monitor.

W/L Preset

Adjust W/L with saved short-Cut key.

Adjust W/L by Modality and select Short-Cut key then type in W/L name to be saved.
After that, W/L name will be displayed on W/L preset. To open the exam next time,
adjusted W/L will be applied.

Caution It applies to series unit only.

LUT Preset Menu

Adjust LUT curve by user, it is able to adjust gray scale range of image. (10 bit or higher gray-level image)
1) With two pointer on the line, adjust curve of S and check the change of image processing.
2) Adjust W/L with right click on image window.
3) Modality, exam part, series, exam unit, it is able to setup LUT value and W/L value.
(It depends on privileges by user.)

Caution

Based on modality or body part information, it applies with DICOM information. User type in the contents and
modality information and it operates automatically (auto matching).

Personal Use

1. JPEG image display

Using the function of import non-DICOM file of PPFOCUS, you can open JPEG
image (or TIFF, BMP) and then convert them to DICOM files and save them to
local database. Using export function, you can convert DICOM files to non-
DICOM files like JPEG, TIFF, BMP, etc.
(Refer to V. Advanced features > Open Non-DICOM file)

2. Slide or document making

Using the function of Copy to Clipboard (with ROI function), you can copy a
DICOM image or its part to Word, PowerPoint, etc.
(Refer to IV. How to use > Copy to clipboard)

3. Educational purpose
Using Reference image view function, you can review reference images during
diagnoses, patient care and education, etc.
(Refer to V. Advanced features > Reference image view)

4.CD backup
Using the function of CD backup, you can copy DICOM images and database
of PPFOCUS to CD/DVD for media backup, educational purpose, CD copy
when the transfer patients to other hospitals.

3. Environment Setting

1. LUT Auto matching

When image display which was setup, saved LUT value that saved in server will be used automatically.

2. Term of validity of Cache Database image

When user searches viewer image, cache database is in use. When image is searched, cache database
setting option designates cumulative period of cache image. If user setup cumulative period longer, local
drive of PC may be in full.

Memo We recommend to use 2 days for cumulative period of cache database.

3. E-Mail Image Format

Designate image type to e-mail with image attachment.

Series Window: Display exam with each series.
Image Window: Display image is included on series.

Select this item to display 1 exam 1 series mode of image and click ok to display series mode.

2. Display one series of two exam

No: For 1 series layout mode, all series mode will not be in use.
Both Exam: For 1 series mode of 2 exams, select all series mode.
Left Exam : Left of exam open window, 1 series mode of image will be displayed.
Right Exam : Right of exam open window, 1 series mode of image will be displayed.

3. Default layout

Layout of setting of Hanging protocol

By modality, designate series layout of image. Display series layout of image which viewer as designated. Open
exam on worklist or drag & drop series as default layout.

1) When user setup hanging protocol by modality, select one from layout list.

a. Click one of the box, window displays on the bottom.

DICOM Network Setting

PPW DICOM Engine must be on for DICOM image transmission.

There’s a short cut icon which the PPW is installed correctly.

Please double click the icon, DICOM engine will be running on window system tray.
Please refer to the figure as follow.

Please double click the icon to check the status of DICOM network.
The window will be displayed as follow.

If the network is not running, please click start to run the service.

Once PPW Dicom Engine is on, network status will be ready automatically.

Listen IP or Port, etc can be configured in PPW.

VI. Troubleshooting

Monitor Display (reaction time slows)

Close image that already read for efficient use of memory.

Use the viewer with small number of opened images.
[On menu, Option → Preference → Viewer]
1) Check “NO” of CR or None-CR for interpolation checkbox.
2) Delete unnecessary software such as game.
3) Please check setting of viewer for interpolation, cache, etc.
4) Scan anti-virus software periodically.
5) Upgrade cpu, memory or HDD.

Error Message

1. Listening server error

When IP address of workstation is changed where viewer was installed, listening server error message will
be displayed in DICOM network display. When IP address is designated , the message will be displayed to
logon.
* Check IP address of workstation
[On MS Windows, Start→ designate File Name→run → type in CMD → OK → Type in IPCONFIG]
* When IP address can’t be searched, please contact local distributor.

2. Language error

4. DB Connection Error
When DB connection Error message pops up, it is problem of connection to PPS server.
1) Check cable connectivity physically.
2) Check ODBC setting and server IP address of PPS database.

5.File Server Error

It occurs in network connection of PPS server.
1) Try to access to FTP.
2) Do pint test for network connection to PPS file server.
(Start à Run à Type in CMD à Type in PING IP Address of network or server)

6. Local DB Backup
There are two database of Master.mdb and PacsPlus.mdb in PPW.
In conference Folder, there’s a mdb file.

1) When master.mdb broke down

Click PPW to run, the error message will be displayed as follows.

could not find file '(unknown)' driver's SQLSet connectAttr failed

State:S1000,nATIVE:-1811,Origin:[Microsoft]]ODBC Microsoft Access dirver]
State:IM006,Native:0,Origin:[Microsoft][ODBC driver Manager]

It means that system couldn’t read the database info in master.mdb as OptionàPreferenceà

It contains image of local folder and setting values.

- When pacsplus.mdb is broken
The same message will be popped up with error message of master.mdb.
-How to backup local database
(Please refer to Option –Preference of manual)
- How to restore local database(same as the way of restoring master.mdb)
1) When error message pops up, click Cancel
2) Click OK

Caution When local database was not backed up, it is able to attach same mdb file of
different PPW workstation to the path of local database.

7. Not Found Exam

1) When exam is searching on worklist, double click compulsory

2) When network error occurs, the error message may pops up. Please check network

8. Image Not Found

When specific image opens from worklist, <Image Not Found

1) Check path of image storing.

* How to resolve
1) If there’s any image in the path of C\Medical

2. Client system of PACSPLUS server (PPS)

1) Before image data of database was not transmitted and try to
open the exam
2) When image transmits from server, for full of database capacity
and new exam can’t be transmitted to server.

* How to resolve
1) Check the availability of disk of PC where PPW is installed.
2) Check FTP service status by DOS command.
3) Save image database and check drive path where the image is sa
ved.

9. Crash Detected

1) This error message is hard to reproduce, mostly it is network or pc problem and there are various reasons and it is
not defined as a bug.
2) For example, when user use keys of PPW constraint or failure of network connection. And hardware, network
device, problem of computer operation, crash with other software, shortage of memory capacity. This error message
displays unexpectedly and hard to find out the reason.
3) When this message occurs, last edited work may not be saved, and system error or loss of data will not be applied.

How to resolve
1) Primarily, check whether PPW runs correctly. (If the PPW runs correctly, there’s no problem of PPW)
2) When PPW is not running correctly, please check the status of network.
3) Please contact local distributor when user did all the steps and didn’t not work.
