New Education Policy

The Union cabinet in July 2020 approved the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims at
universalization of education from pre-school to secondary level.

The National Education Policy 2020 has been introduced at the right time, to complement the process
and vision of creating quality institutions, a culture of innovation, and a highly skilled workforce. It was
about time that we initiated a process to transform the Educational Institutions in India, and provide
them the ability to attain a certain level, that they can be compared to the likes of the best in the world
CBSE
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level board of education in India for
public and private schools, controlled and managed by Union Government of India. There are
approximately 21,271 schools in India and 220 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. [1][2]
From 309 schools in year 1962, as on year 2019, CBSE has 21,271 schools and 228 schools in 25 foreign
countries. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow the NCERT curriculum.[3]

Grading
For the Class 10 and Class 12 exams, CBSE (along with the marks obtained) includes the
positional grade obtained by the student, which is dependent on the average performance of the
students in that subject. Consequently, the cutoffs required to obtain a particular grade vary every
year.

Indian Certificate of Secondary Education----ICSE

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is an examination conducted by the

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, a private board of secondary education

International General Certificate of Secondary Education-IGCSE

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education is an English language based

examination similar to GCSE and is recognized in the United Kingdom as being equivalent to
the GCSE for the purposes of recognizing prior attainment. It was developed by University of
Cambridge International Examinations. The examination boards Edexcel and Oxford AQA also
offer their own versions of International GCSEs. Students normally begin studying the syllabus
at the beginning of Year 10 and take the test at the end of Year 11. However, in some
international schools, students can begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Year 9 and
take the test at the end of Year 10.[citation needed]

The qualifications are based on individual subjects of study, which means that one receives an
"IGCSE" qualification for each subject one takes. Typical "core" subjects for IGCSE candidates
include a First Language, Second Language, Mathematics and one or more subjects in the
Sciences.

The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate

Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and

IB Career-related Programme for students aged 15 to 19, the IB Middle Years Programme for
students aged 11 to 16, and the IB Primary Years Programme for children aged 3 to 12.[3] To
teach these programmes, schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate.

The organization's name and logo were changed in 2007 to reflect new structural arrangements.
Consequently, "IB" may now refer to the organization itself, any of the four programmes, or the
diploma or certificates awarded at the end of a programme.[4]

annually in India. It is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur,
IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati) under the guidance of the
Joint Admission Board (JAB). It is the sole prerequisite for admission to the Indian Institutes of
Technology. Other universities—such as the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), the
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, the Indian Institute of Science Education and
Research (IISERs), and the Indian Institute of Science—use the score obtained on the JEE-
Advanced exam as the basis for admission. The JEE score is also used as a possible basis for
admission by Indian applicants to non-Indian universities such as the University of Cambridge
and National University of Singapore.[2][3] The examination is organised each year by one of the
IITs, on a round-robin rotation pattern. It has a very low qualification rate (about 9,369 in
479,651 in 2012; ~1.95%)[4] The qualification rate of the JEE-Advanced in 2017 was
approximately 0.92% (about 11,000 out of 1,200,000 who applied for JEE Main).[5]

In 2013 the examination initially called the IIT-JEE was renamed to JEE (Advanced), and the
AIEEE was renamed JEE (Main).[6] From 2017, IIT began conducting the JEE internationally to
allow the admission of foreign students.[7]

NEET
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (or NEET (UG)), formerly the
All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who
wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and equivalent AYUSH (BAMS,
BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those
intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.[2]

The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the
Directorate General of Health Services under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State
Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.[3]

NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and many other pre-medical exams
conducted by states and various medical colleges. However, due to lawsuits being filed against
the exam, it couldn’t be held in 2014 and 2015.

NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats
across India.[4] In 2018,

After the enactment of NMC Act 2019 in September 2019, NEET-UG became common all India
entrance test for admissions to medical colleges in India including the All India Institutes of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education &
Research (JIPMER) which until then conducted separate entrances.[5]
NTSE
NTSE or National Talent Search Examination is a national level exam conducted by the National
Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for granting scholarships to the
meritorious students studying in class 10th. NTSE is only held for 10th standard students and the
exam is conducted in two different stages – Stage I and II.

The first stage exam is a state-level exam and is conducted by all the Indian states and UTs. On

education in their desired stream. NTSE scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the overall
performance of students in both the stages of the examination.
