ABSTRACT :-

The construction industry has not only become a major consumer of materials, it has also
become a source of pollution by waste materials . Environmental integrated production and
reusing and recycling is of great importance for the competitev position in EU Member States.
EU Member States shall ensure that the technical, environmental and economic feasibility of
alternative systems is considered and is taken into account before construction starts . The article
focuses on reuse of Building Materials as a way for environment protection and sustainable
development. Integrated environmental management integrates the requirements of sustainable
development and LCA. There are many methods used to reduce waste and increase profits
through salvage, reuse, and the recycling of construction waste. Sustainable development as a
tool .to continual improvement cycle and with process innovation the need to save money in the
process via reduced resources and utility costs. This article demonstrates that alternatives to
modern buildings materials are avaible . keyworlds, environmental, management , reuse,
sustainable development.
INTRODUCTION :-

 GENERAL:
Construction waste recycling is the separation and recycling of recoverable waste
materials generated during construction and remodeling. Packaging, new material
scraps and old materials and debris all constitute potentially recoverable materials.
In renovation, appliances, masonry materials, doors and windows are recyclable.
The Promotion of environmental management and the mission of sustainable
development have exerted the pressure demanding for the adoption of proper
method to protect the environment across all the industries including
constructions. Construction by nature is not an eco friendly activity construction
renovation and demolition waste is generated whenever any construction
/demolation activity takes place such as building roads, bridges, flyovers, subway
remolding etc.

1.0 what to be recycled in construction waste.

Before recycling construction waste, identify who will accept it. This is important
in designating type of waste to separate, and in making arrangements for drop-off
or delivery of materials.

 Appliances and fixtures

 Brush and Trees
 Cardboard and Paper
 Lumber and Plywood
 Masonry
 Metals
 Plastics
 Roofing
 Windows and Doors

1.2 materials speration in construction waste.

Containers for material recycling must be set up on site and clearly labeled.
Construction personnel must be trained in material sorting policy, and bins must be
monitored periodically to prevent waste mixing as a result of crews or passersby
throwing trash into the bins. Some materials will require bins or storage that
protect from rain. Other bins may be locked to prevent tampering.

1.3 what can be reused in construction waste.

The major benefit of reusing materials is the resource and energy use that one
saves avoided by reducing the production of new materials. Some commonly
reused C&D materials and applications include:

 Easy-to-remove items like doors, hardware, appliances, and fixtures. These

can be salvaged for donation or use during the rebuild or on other jobs.
 Wood cutoffs can be used for cripples, lintels, and blocking to eliminate the
need to cut full length lumber. Scrap wood can be chipped on site and used
as mulch or groundcover.
 De-papered and crushed gypsum can be used, in moderate quantities, as a
soil amendment.
 Brick, concrete and masonry can be recycled on site as fill, subbase material
or driveway bedding.
 Excess insulation from exterior walls can be used in interior walls as noise
deadening material.
 Paint can be remixed and used in garage or storage areas, or as primer coat
on other jobs.
 Packaging materials can be returned to suppliers for reuse.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT WORK :-

 To minimize risks which pose to environment
 Reduce environmental footprint by using as an alternative to protect raw materials and
sustainable development
 Get down the price because of less importance materials from out of the country.
 In small country lack of space to make landfill.

LITERATURE REVIEW :-

Rawshan Ara Beguma identified some waste minimization factors which are helpful for
implementation for construction waste management system in the construction industry. And
provided proof on the important stage of contribution and the stage of construction practices
among the waste minimization factors the model of weighted average of factors and
minimization and practiced index value of factors and analyzed indicate the most important,
less important and important factors that contribute to waste minimization and the maximum
construction practiced, less practiced waste minimization factors in the construction industry of
Malaysia.

Effie Papargyropoulou focused on Malaysian construction sectors current status of waste

management and level of sustainable practices on construction sites of waste management and
examined attitudes and response of Malaysian contractors towards waste management by
interviews were conducted with Malaysian contractors. Concluded industry’s level of
awareness and commitment on waste management very low and disappointing.

Al-Hajj A. identified from data collection from two case studies of construction projects
construction practices to reduce construction waste generation in the UAE construction sitesby
a literature review of research. and concluded that of people are lack of awareness, less
importance towards the waste management on sites and showed that contractors are consider
that waste management is extra cost of the project.

Mansi Jain focused on the economical aspects of waste minimization of construction waste
materials in terms of cost savings of construction projects of India. And found that Due to lack
of site waste management systems, lack awareness of waste minimization in Indian
construction industry cause of generation of large quantities of material waste. This affect not
only at environmental but also in terms of economically as waste materials handling cost. And
found various causes for the waste generation like lack of awareness among owners and
contractors, lack knowledge of labor, lack of proper training and education towards waste
minimization system.

AbhijithHarikumaret suggested the reusing of the material waste is very good and helpful
especially when it will be useful in minimizing demolition of earth’s stone crust and green forest
cover by aim of reduced mining. By proper reduce, reuse and recycling, these waste materials
will not addition of wastes at dumping and disposal sites. Showed that Construction industry
can help by encouraging use of recycled concrete stones and bricks. Towards its commitment to
protection of environment.
Sadhan K Ghosha proposed a model for transportation rates and resale value of recyclable
materials which makes use of easily available data that can provide an intuitive and simple
optimization model for the basic principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle into action. Identified
the most common causes of waste on site

Based on the critical literature review several points can be preliminarily concluded:

For site factor, for factors were identified from the previous work as: Theft, Vandalism, damage
of materials on site, unnecessary inventories in site, rework, Improper cutting of materials.

For Environmental factor, four, factors identified: Waste disposal, weather conditions, improper
land filling and act of god

For economical factor, four, factors identified: Separation of sources, transportation cost, and
cost of waste disposal, labour of weste disposal, labour cost, and recycling cost.

For technical factor, four, factors identified: Lack pf supervision, poor storage facilities on sites,
error in design, design changes, human error, lack of communication on sites, lack of waste
management , and ineffective method of work.

METHODOLOGY:-
Recycling of Construction and Demolition waste Construction and Demolition waste
management may be defined as the discipline associated with the proper storage, collection
and transportation, recovery and recycling, processing, reusing and disposal of C and D wastes
in a manner that is in accord with the best principles of human health, economic, engineering,
aesthetics and other environmental considerations. The management approaches are different
from one country to another, as are the levels of environmental protection. Most of the
Construction and Demolition waste management systems reviewed on the
following basis: Construction and Demolition waste management includes following steps.
(a)Storage and segregation. (b) Collection and transportation. (c) Recycling and reuse.
(d)Disposal.

While complete deconstruction is the preferred and most sustainable method for removing or
renovating a structure, it is not always possible due to the type of building and/or its components.
According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, highly deconstructable
buildings
