On our previous Learning Activity Sheets, you’ve already learned the following:

After experiencing the activities in the previous Learning Activity Sheets, you are now
equipped with necessary skills and knowledge in creating your own artwork. For this
week, you will now create your very own artwork based on your interest and what art
form that is closest to your heart.

Below is a guideline on creating your art work for you to be guided in your process of
art creation. Always ask advice and guidance from your teacher.

GUIDELINES ON CREATING “MY CONTEMPORARY ART”

1. Be Safe. Your safety is your first priority. Create your artwork in a safe environment using
safe techniques and materials/medium.

2. Be Maka-kalikasan at Makabansa. Conceptualize an artwork in which you can use


recycled, localized materials or materials found at home. Buying of expensive materials is
highly discouraged.

3. Be Original. Create your own artwork. Do not copy or let someone create your artwork.

4. Be Creative. You may choose one or more art forms/techniques. You have the choice to
create only one types of art form or you can artistically combine two or more art forms. Art
forms/techniques that may be used are the following but not limited to:
 LITERARY ARTS
 VISUAL ARTS: Architecture, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture
 PERFORMING ARTS: Dance, Music, Theater
 DECORATIVE ART: Basketry, Pottery, Metalwork
 CONTEMPORARY ARTS: Mixed-media, Installation, Collage, Assemblage, Computer
art, Animation, Photography

5. Be a Craftsman. Apply as many Elements and Principles of Art depending on the art
form/technique you choose in creating your own artwork. Apply only what is applicable to
your artwork and what makes it more artistic.
 Elements of Art : Line, Shape, Form, Space, Color, Texture
 Principles of Art: Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Unity, Proportion, Rhythm, Movement
 Contemporary Elements: Appropriation, Time, Performance, Hybridity, Perspective,
Destruction, Text

6. Be Advised. Communicate with your teacher on the process of creation of your artwork
for proper guidance and to avoid mistakes or errors.

Directions:
Create an art work based on the GUIDELINES ON CREATING “MY CONTEMPORARY ART”.

Examples of art work:

1. Painting using localized scenarios and localized/recycled/found materials like tuba.


2. Dance using localized movements of people seen in your community and using
localized/recycled/found materials for your costumes and props.
3. Sculpture using bamboo, sweet potato (kamote) or other localized crops and recycled materials.
4. Music using localized dialect, sounds, instruments and activities seen in the community.
5. Assemblage by joining together found and recycled materials at home to create an artwork.
6. Photography by using localized subjects found in the community.
