ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY: LENI ROBREDO IS WORTHY AS THE

NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

Among 5 of the Presidential aspirants for the 2022 national election, the most qualified is Leni
Robredo. Leni Robredo has done a good job for the past 6 years with her Vice Presidency.
Talking about his bid for an executive position in the May 2022 elections, Duterte is focusing on
his May 2022 election campaign rather than the worsening COVID-19 situation. Robredo is
continuing her COVID-19 pandemic efforts Bayanihan E-Konsulta and the Vaccine Express
projects, as well as her livelihood and public service programs Angat Buhay, Bayanihan E-
Skwela, and sikap.ph, among many others. Though she didn't have much money to put these
projects together, she relied on donations from well-intentioned people. Roberto's office did not
fail to start these projects and activities despite having limited funds, which are rational to put in
place amid a global epidemic. Furthermore, we are not yet discussing how Robredo's office has
achieved the top audit grade for three years in a row. The Philippines has been deprived of good
governance, thus Robredo's vice presidency should serve as an overview of what good
administration is. Only a few persons could have done what Robredo had done with the
Philippines' most powerful political forces' seemingly never-ending assaults. The best payback
for Robredo is to display good, decent, and honest work that her rivals can't seem to do, not to
talk back for the enjoyment of the people. To run for president is to deliver the message that, like
millions of Filipinos, she wants to bring change and growth to the country, and that she will do it
through the highest office in the government. On the other hand, refusing to run for president
sends the impression that she is bored of national politics and that the Philippines is no longer a
case worth pursuing. The options are obvious now that Vice President Leni Robredo has
declared her presidential bid. Others who have put their hats into the ring thus far have offered
more of the same "trapo" varieties, with only minor differences in tints and colors. Robredo, on
the other hand, is correct in her assessment of the core reason for the country's current problems:
incompetent, corrupt, and insensitive governance. Her speech announcing her candidacy was
moving, using well-chosen words. A similar battle cry, "lalaban tayo," has been employed by
police officers to justify the death of victims in "tokhang" operations. Politicians have
downplayed Robredo's strengths by focusing on her low polling score and ignoring her
accomplishments. She has, nevertheless, demonstrated political intelligence and political survival
skills. Those who underestimate her are in for a rude awakening. Here are five of them. Robredo
was elected by 14,436,337 people in 2016. This is a good foundation that could grow in the
coming months if she plays her cards well. Two-thirds, Robredo is invulnerable to infection.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb created the concept of anti-fragility as something more than merely being
resilient in his book "Antifragile: Things that Gain from Disorder." It is the ability to not just
tolerate chaos, but to improve as a result of it. To give an example, an airline that shut down
owing to the negative impacts of COVID-19 is fragile, yet a delivery business that developed as
a result of the pandemic is anti-fragile. It thrived during the crisis, bringing timely services and
supplies to front-line workers as well as those in neglected, overlooked regions, thanks to
extensive support from individual donors. Third, she has a track record of managing people. In
stark contrast to the red flags that the COA issued to many agencies under the Duterte
administration in its 2020 report, the OVP has received the highest audit grade from the
Commission on Audit (COA) for three consecutive years. Fourth, there's Robredo's persona. As
chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council in 2016 and as an anti-
illegal drug czar in 2019, President Duterte challenged Robredo to join his Cabinet. Against the
counsel of well-intentioned supporters, she agreed. It took a lot of confidence and commitment to
walk into unfriendly Cabinet sessions. Another example is how she reacted to Mayor Isko
Moreno Domagoso's insults at her. She exhibited outstanding character in her critic by calling
out the crassness of the comments without getting pulled into a low level of conversation. Fifth,
Robredo is aware of the new politics' dynamics and how social media has empowered
individuals. Without the consent of anyone, a netizen can broadcast his ideas. The community
pantry movement is an example of how citizens can act as volunteer groups without the
government's permission. Traditional political parties are losing members as a result of this. The
once-dominant Liberal Party has been crushed, and the lauded PDP-Laban coalition is
dissolving. She is urging individuals to be vested in the purpose of bringing about substantial
change for the country by identifying herself as an independent and portraying her candidacy as
not about herself. This is a dissatisfaction season. Because there are no beds available in
hospitals, patients are refused admission. Government officials are unable to account for the
billions of dollars sent to an undercapitalized firm whose executives bought expensive cars as if
they were buying the latest models from Toys "R" Us after only a few months of operation. The
country ranks lowest out of 53 countries in Bloomberg's COVID-19 Resilience Report, and last
out of 121 countries in Nikkei's COVID-19 Recovery Index, a questionable distinction.

In conclusion, I have a piece of strong evidence that will prove to you that Leni is the most
qualified President for 2022. Robredo will be my choice simply because she is the strongest,
most qualified, and capable candidate available, as well as because of the good work she has
done for the people. Yes, her programs were not big, but they were effective, efficient, and
accessible, indicating that she understands what the people at the grassroots, in particular,
require. In the list of formal presidential candidates for the May 2022 elections, Robredo must be
high on the list, and he must be the symbol of honest and excellent governance that the Filipino
people need and deserve, even if they don't recognize it. Robredo's candidacy is a breath of fresh
air and hope amid lingering challenges of severe ineptitude and corruption in government. She
will continue to wow the nation.
