SENGOKU JIDAI JAPANESE

1500 AD to 1560 AD

This list takes the Japanese army through the turbulent Age of War, incorporating the period
of adoption of firearms from the Portuguese but ceasing before the rise of Oda Nobunaga
and the development of more sophisticated firearms tactics. Armies can be formed from
normal Samurai forces or the armed peasants of the Ikko-Ikki (local self-defence forces).
Armies now had a higher proportion of professional non-Samurai troops than earlier, and
the amount of cavalry deployed decreased steadily.
