1. In this picture, there is a sentence “Communication is the key!” As you can see form this sentece, in CLT
students learn a language for communicate with others. Also, in CLT students are encouraged to participate in
classroom activities to develop communicative competences.

2. In this picture, the teacher asks students “What I did on my holidays?” and one of the students are answering
the question. Because CLT focuses on real communication, rather than reading difficult literatures, everyday words
and expressions are dealt with in class like we can see in this picture..
3. This picture shows that the guiding principles of CLT. According to CLT approach, comprehension happens
before production and production emerges in stages. And the goal of ClT is to improve communicative
competence. Affective filter is lowered and students not only learn from teacher’s explanation but also acquire a
language through interaction.

Task-Based Language Teaching

1. This picture shows the keywords of TBLT. As we can see, in TBLT, students acquire a target language by carrying
out some tasks. Students can participate actively in task and they interact.

2. This is a diagram for explaining TBLT. According to TBLT, students can acquire a language from the process of
performing a task. TBLT is student-centered. A teacher should be a guide and students play an important role in
class. This method can motivate students by let them do carry out a task by themselves. A task can be different
such as painting and making videos.

3. This picture shows that students are participating actively in class and they are working in group.
4. This shows that the advantages of TBLT. Students are free of language control and they can learn a language
in a natural context by themselves. By performing some tasks, students can have a chance to communicate with
each other. Also students are easily motivated by various activities.

The difference between CLT and TBLT
: TBLT can be considered a branch of CLT. The goal of CLT is to develop language ability to communicate with
others in real life, and TBLT is one method for it. In TBLT, a task is used to develop communicative competence,
and a class focuses on carrying out a task related with the real world. Task is an activity in which meaning is
primary, there is a problem to solve, and relationship to real-world activities, with an objective that can
be assessed in terms of an outcome.
