Part 1: Introductory

Course Description:
The introductory course in Digital Media is a 2 weeks course aimed at giving students the
needed introduction to the core programs under the digital media program. This will enhance
student’s understanding and aid for easy transition into the 4 weeks specific digital media
course at the end of the innovation week of the Base Innovation Program. This course is a
prerequisite for enrolling in the 4 weeks specific course in the program.

Aim of Course:

Media (4 weeks)
Course Description:
The Specific course in Digital Media is a 4 weeks course aimed at giving students enhanced
and advanced knowledge in the different courses under the digital media program. This will
enable students to specialize in a particular course area during the 4 weeks program. This
course is more advanced compared to the introductory 2 weeks course under this Base
Innovation Program.

Aim of Course:
1. To build on introductory skills acquired during the first 2 weeks program
2. Equip students with a more advanced and practical skills in digital media
3. Give students a more focus skills in digital media
4. Provide an opportunity for students to specialise in a digital media skill.

Specific Course

Option 1: VIDEOGRAPHY – 4 WEEKS


Duration: 2hrs daily

Maximum Class size : 5 students

Description: The advanced course in videography shall be 90% practical


throughout the course of the 4 weeks period. This is going to allow students to
gain hands-on experience with the camera, and how to use the laptop to edit
amazing videos. For this reason, students will be required to take the introductory
course very much seriously, in order to reflect back on the theory aspect at
certain times.

At the beginning of the course, students must be able to identify the kind and
type of video production they want to specialize in. Students will then be trained
and mentored towards their choice of video production type.

Objectives: At the end of the course, student should be able to:

1. Gain more knowledge in their preferred field of video production i.e.,


Documentary, events coverage, feature film, etc.
2. Should know how to professionally shoot & edit videos for social media
and television.
3. Should be able to work to start his/her own video production business.

Introductory & Pre-production

Videography - Production Stage: STAGE OF VIDEOGRAPHY

During week 2 students shall be exposed to shooting with the camera or the
phone. This would give them a deeper understanding of what video production
entails.

Assignment & Practice


● Students will be made to practice shooting with the camera for hands on
experience during training hours. Trainers will have to create the mood for
a video production as a form of exposure for the students.
● During this day, students will also be made to take necessary videos for
the next phase of the training (week 3 – Editing).
● These videos are supposed to be aligned with the project they have in
mind with their team members. – Telling a story.

During the week, students will be allowed to further sharpen their skills by
executing their own production.
This production would be tailored to their team’s project; hence they will liaise
with other team members in the other courses to create their piece of work.

On the last day of the week, they shall submit what they have done for perusal
and feedback.

This course provides a space for students to review their growing arsenal of
sound design tools, applying them within the context of creative needs.

Intro to Portable Recording

Portable recording is the basis for many of the sounds in any good sound designer’s
library. Students are encouraged to always be prepared to record sounds at any time.
This course covers the five Ws of portable recording as well as some basics in
mastering their sounds.

Students explore different portable recorders available at VFS in addition to the other
microphones they are able to use throughout the year. Proper microphone technique is
stressed to increase the quality of student recordings.

Intro to Post Recording

Post-production studio recording breaks down into two main categories: Foley and
ADR. The first four classes of this course concentrate on Foley with the following three

Course Description

Photography is a form of art that involves capturing images and showcasing them
to the viewers. With the constant improvement of technology, it has been advanced
in execution and reformed as an art, especially with the modern smartphones.
Smartphone cameras, while being continuously bettered over time, have
minimized the technical difficulty in photography and made it a much friendlier art
to the regular public.

Training Description & Requirements


This training program is designed to introduce the fundamentals of graphic
design to a complete beginner in a maximum duration of two weeks. The only
prerequisite for the training program is the basic knowledge in using a computer.
The training program is going to be more hands on than theoretical but the
necessary design theories will be covered nonetheless. Trainees will be
introduced to a wide range of industrial standard tools and software. The
program will also take into consideration the other traditional methods of graphic
design in order not to leave the creativity of our designs to software.

About the Course

The course is to equip trainees on how to develop themselves as writers, who will
