WEEK 1 and 2
LET’S GET READY:
Examine the jumbled letters below and identify the words referred to using the provided
meanings. Write your answers in your answer sheet.
LET’S LEARN:
Understanding a sentence or text is essential to have a full grasp of the information
embedded in it. Though dictionaries and other online resources are helpful, they are not
always available. As such, context clues embedded in a sentence or text help in
comprehending the meaning it expresses. Through context clues, words are associated to
get the meaning of the unfamiliar text or the whole statement. Prior knowledge also helps in
decoding the meaning of texts.
Context clues are the hints (word or words) to the right meaning of an unfamiliar word
used in the sentence. The clue may be found in the preceding sentences, within the same
sentence, or succeeding sentences.
