Course Launch

Checklist
Welcome to Teachable!
We are committed to helping you achieve success with your courses. Use
this checklist as a guide for setting up all the fundamental elements of
your school so you are ready to launch.

Getting started
There are a few things to do in your school before starting your course.

Confirm your email address (look for the Edit and confirm your school URL
notification at the top of your dashboard) under Site > Domains

Pro-tip:
• Once you have confirmed your Teachable domain, you will see the
option to add a custom domain or subdomain to your school.
Phase 1: Your Course
In this phase, the focus is on creating your content and
setting up your curriculum.

Create a curriculum outline that you can follow as you create content

Build your outline into your course under the Curriculum tab

Add your content to lectures. Check out this article for an overview of
the types of content you can add to a Teachable course

Publish your lectures to make them visible to students

Create your pricing options under the Pricing tab in your course

Pro-tips:
• The max video file size is 2GB. Larger videos can be compressed or
hosted externally and embedded in a lecture with HTML code

• Only published lectures are visible to your students

• Sections, lectures and content blocks are drag-and-drop for easy

reordering of content in your curriculum view and inside your lectures

• Sections are like topics and lectures are the content within a topic

• Courses can have as many pricing options as you need in any

currency that Teachable supports. Each pricing option generates its
own URL for easy sharing

There are all kinds of ways to present your curriculum. Here is an example
to help you visualize how your content will flow.

downloadable if you want students to be able to take
them! Look for the download symbol next to each file.
Phase 2: Your Marketing Assets
In this phase, the focus is on creating your course sales page and the
post-enrollment student journey.

Design your sales page under the Pages tab in your course

Add testimonials and bullet points to your checkout page

Build your course thank you page

Pro-tips:
• Update your sales page URL under the settings wheel

• For multiple pricing options, add a pricing block instead of a CTA button

• Publish and update your pages to make changes visible

• While checkout page fields cannot be edited due to encryption, you are
able to add testimonials and bullet points to the sidebar

• The thank you page confirms enrollment and helps students navigate to
the curriculum
Setting up a welcome email
After enrollment, students will receive the purchase receipt and the
confirmation email. To set up an additional course welcome email, follow
these steps:

Make sure you have a welcome section in your course

Navigate to the Drip tab in your course

Set your the welcome section to open zero days after enrollment

Edit the email announcement to include your welcome email

Activate the drip for that section

When a student enrolls, the drip feature will send your welcome email along with the
Teachable transactional emails.

Pro-tip:
• Use the drip feature to lock your sections until a specific date or
period of time. This is great for running time-based or cohort-based
courses. Content is dripped by section.

A sales page tells the story of your course. Here is an
example to help you visualize yours.
Phase 3: Pre-launch
In this phase, the focus is on the other aspects of your school that need
to be configured before you’re ready to launch.

Configure Teachable Payments for your payment gateway and enable

BackOffice to handle your tax forms and to offer PayPal to students

Brand your school with your logo and color palette under Site > Theme

Create your school homepage under Site > Pages

Publish your school under Settings > General

Preview your course by clicking the “preview” button in your course’s

Curriculum tab

Before your launch

It’s important to make sure your payment gateways are configured correctly
so your students aren’t prevented from enrolling in your course. Here’s how
to test them.
• Create a coupon in your course that reduces the price to $1

• Enroll in your course as if you were a student (with a different email address)

• Look for the post-enrollment emails from Teachable

• Navigate to the Users tab and find your record. From there, navigate to the
enrollments tab to ensure you were properly enrolled
