E-Learning Course Guide

Before You Start…

LEEA’s E-Learning courses take an average of 20 hours of study time to complete.
This will vary depending on your experience of the subject matter, your
understanding of written English, familiarity with engineering principles and the
number of times you attempt quizzes and revision tests.
You can study at your own speed and book an assessment when you are ready. You
have up to 2 years to complete the course and take the assessment.
On the next few pages we will show you how to navigate around the LEEA Academy
Course Player and how to access additional information and support.

The Course Player

Your course will be presented in a new window on your device and will look like this:

Marker Tools
The marker tools allow you to write, draw or highlight on the on-screen pages of
your course as you learn.
Please note that your markings are not saved if you quit the session and return to it
at a later time.

Course Structure & Progression

Our courses include learning modules and revision modules. The modules must be
completed in order – the next module only unlocks after successfully completing of
the previous one.
Learning Modules
Each Learning Module must be worked through in page order at first. After you have
read a page for the first time, you will then be able to go back to it whenever you
wish.
You will find that the information presented during the course is broken up by
“Quizzes” – these are designed to reinforce key learning points and give you a break
from reading for a while! These have no “pass” or “fail” mark, but you will need to
answer them correctly to move on to the next section.
You cannot skip ahead, and each Quiz must be completed.

Revision Modules
To help reinforce learning and prepare you for the LEEA Assessment, we have
included some revision questions with this course.
These are multiple choice questions that will test your learning and highlight topics
you may want to revise in more detail.
Please note that all assessment papers for Advanced Programmes consist of
multiple-choice AND essay-style written answer questions. The revision modules in
LEEA e-learning courses only provide practice for multiple-choice type questions.
Every time you complete a revision module, you are automatically re-enrolled onto
it. This allows you to re-take the module as many times as you want to help you to
revise the course material.

Answering Questions
Quiz & Revision Questions
There are a variety of question types in use within our Quizzes and Revision Modules.
For the Quizzes, there is no pass or fail and you get unlimited attempts to select the
correct answer.
For the Revision Modules you will get a grade at the end to give you some useful
feedback on how well you have understood and recalled the learning from the
preceding Learning Modules.
Here are some of the question types you will see throughout the course:

Course Step Notes

Your course step notes are a copy of the online learning modules which you must
download and save before you proceed to the first learning module. The Step Notes
can be used to help with revision for your assessment and as reference after your
course expires.
You can find them in the “Resources” tab in Course Guide module. You will not be
able to access these notes from other modules.
The step notes are in a PDF document – save this to your device and if required, print
them for your personal use. You may want to write notes in them as you study the
modules.

Course Duration and Expiry

Your course will be available for a maximum of two years from enrolment. If you
have not completed all course modules by that time, they will expire and you will
not be able to access them.
If you finish all course modules in less than two years, your course will remain
available for 90 days after you complete the final module. After 90 days, your access
to the learning materials will expire.
We advise that you download and save resources when instructed to during the
course so that you can access them after your course expires.

Finally…
Please remember when you finish each time, to close the window/tab in your
browser first and allow the system to finish “refreshing” before quitting and
shutting-down your PC. This makes sure that the system records your progress
correctly.
We strongly recommend using a PC, laptop or tablet with the latest versions of
system and browser software installed on your device. Viewing the course on a
mobile phone is not recommended as you will not be able to access all the material
and the system will not record your progress correctly.
You can book your LEEA Assessment at any time and all details are available at

We hope you enjoy your course!
