GENERAL GUIDELINES

 This is a suggested teaching schedule. The teacher will determine the time allotted to each task depending on
students' needs and responses. However, the teacher is expected to begin each unit on the indicated day
in order to cover the suggested textbook content before the last day of class.

 Welcome and course introduction: On the first day of class, the teacher should take some minutes to talk
to students about the most important features about our program and institution. Two power point presentations
have been created for this purpose (in Spanish). They can be found in Canvas, and should be used in class to
clarify important information with students. Additional information related to this matter can also be found in the
syllabus (evaluation system, online resources, etc.)

 About the following new sections in the third edition book:

 Introduce the theme / Warm-up / Unit opener: This section refers to the spread that shows a picture
connected to the unit’s topic. This short activity can be used to introduce the general topic of the unit
and help students activate schemata.

 Warm-up video: This activity is optional. It may help to watch the videos in advance in order to decide
on the best way to use it. More detailed information can be found in the syllabus.

 The Process Writing activities could be used in order to complement classwork in each unit (in class,
or as homework). Activities (for class work or homework) can be selected at the teacher’s discretion
based on the students’ needs.

 The video worksheets can be assigned for homework. Ideally, one video worksheet should be covered
in class. The other worksheets could be assigned for homework if deemed appropriate.

 S & W LO evaluation: Assessment of the specific learning objectives/outcomes (speaking and writing) listed
on this document should be conducted on the appointed dates. (More information on learning outcomes
evaluation can be found in the syllabus, section “Evaluation criteria: In class evaluation tasks”).

 Evaluation for make up grades (in case students are absent on evaluation day) should take place the following
day.

 Workbook: The workbook activities can be assigned at the teachers’ discretion.

 MWLO (My World Link Online): Students individually take the entry placement test available in MWLO, and
work on the activities assigned in their personalized “Learning Path” at their own pace. If convenient, the
SAC visit could be used for the purpose of guiding students through the platform.

 A 30 minute SAC visit will be scheduled for this course. It is important to keep this in mind when planning
your lessons. Please, refer to your coach for information on the procedure and schedule.

More relevant information about our personalized 3rd edition sections can be found in the syllabus (Unit
opener, warm-up video, welcome unit, consolidation units, video worksheets and process writing)
