Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering


Registered as a PrEng or PrTechEng, or currently registered as an

Knowledge, Minimum 3 years experience in a design environment, either in consulting

Direct experience working with municipal roads and water infrastructure,
building structures and assosciated built environment infrastructure
Sound understanding of infrastructure planning and design principles,
local authority by-laws, construction specifications and municipal
engineering standards, specifically for eThekwini Municipality
Knowledge of construction materials and quality management thereof
Ability to challenge designs in terms of practicality, durability and value
for money
Understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations
Familiarity of the National Environmental Management Act
Ability to work independently, efficiently & able to meet deadlines
Ability to learn quickly & apply knowledge to wide range of projects
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Must be analytical and able to solve problems
Willingness and ability to work in multi disciplinary teams
Willingness to share knowledge and mentor younger staff
