10 th - 12th,
In previous years, we have had the honour of hosting several guest speakers to inspire our
delegates in taking initiative. These guest speakers have worked in a wide array of different
fields in, not only the UN, but also government and non-profit agencies. Some of these agencies
include the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), The Food and Agriculture
Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), and the Arab League of Nations.

It is our honour to invite you to the ninth annual British International School Cairo Model United
Nations (BISCMUN) conference this March. In these unusual and trying circumstances, we are living
during one of the most significant moments in history. With the challenges that have come
alongside the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to adopt a new ‘normal’ whether that be in our daily
life or in our academic lives. However, even in these times of uncertainty, rays of hope lie in how
united the youth remains. MUN maintains to be as crucial and our efforts in progressing with the
Sustainable Development Goals should not be hindered. With that in mind, the BISCMUN IX team
has decided to not let the obstacles of "the new normal" affect our ability to provide you with an
educational yet safe experience. These demanding times have allowed us to reflect on our true
priorities and grow not only as individuals but as global citizens. BISCMUN IX is centred around the
theme Distanced but not Divided reflecting on the world's ability to come together, united, despite
the hurdles we faced. This year, to ensure the safety of all participants,
BISCMUN will be offering a socially distanced conference.
