Chandigarh was intended to be established in two phases, with a population of half a million people. Today, Chandigarh is a home to more than a million of people. The fast expansion and development of Chandigarh resulted in increased demand for its services and utilities, resulting in the creation of two satellite towns: Mohali in Punjab, now known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar), and Panchkula in Haryana. Mohali located in west of Chandigarh, is becoming a desirable location not just for the IT industry, but also for housing and urban infrastructure related projects due to prime connectivity. Over the years, improvements in infrastructure, Chandigarh international airport, the creation of parks and open spaces, and a stable law and order situation have aided Mohali in becoming an autonomous town. It has grown into a significant commercial and institutional centre, with regional offices of enterprises and organisations serving several states. It has also become a popular investment location for both Indian and global companies. 3. Discuss the context of your thesis. In what ways is your project situated in and influenced by the culture in which we live? According to data, Chandigarh has seen a 25% rise in tourist footfall in recent months. According to reports, 31549 international visitors visited Chandigarh in 2016 and 39681 in 2018. On the other hand, in 2016, 11.8 lakh Indian visitors visited Chandigarh, which grew to 15.4 lakh in 2018. In Chandigarh, the hotel industry's occupancy rate has increased significantly. Throughout the year, the average yearly occupancy rate in the budget and mid-market segments is about 75 percent, while in the luxury category it is around 60–65 percent.
