down accelerating digital educa­
tion,  the  Boston  Consulting
Group  (BCG),  in  partnership
with  Schoolnet  and  Google  for
Education, conducted a study —
Equipping, Enabling, and Ad-
vancing Digital Education in In-
dia — to look at impact of digital
tools on adoption, usage, and ef­
fectiveness  of  digital  education
across  50,000  teachers  in  three
different  states  in  India,  strad­
dling  different  socio­economic,
language  and  digital  familiarity
contexts.  The  study  was  de­
signed  to  measure  the  benefits
and  challenges  of  utilising  digi­
tal in education at­scale in an In­
dian  context  and  define  a  path
for full­scale roll­out.
Results
Some  key  findings  suggested
that digital education leads to ef­
ficiencies in teaching and engag­
ing  students.  Teachers  expe­
rience  more  socio­emotional
benefits  after  learning  to  use
technology  in  education  and  re­
port  greater  efficiency  through
better  content  access,  more  ef­
fective  lesson  planning  and
classroom  management.  Using
digital tools in education also fa­
cilitates  a  range  of  collateral  be­
nefits,  from  higher  student  at­
tentiveness  to  better
parent­teacher engagement.
“Even  in  India’s  diverse  edu­
cational  system,  digital  educa­
tion  unlocks  immense  benefits,
numerous  use­cases  and  crea­
tive adaptation for both students
and teachers. This is abundantly
clear  from  the  extensive  data
and  insights  we  examined  as
part  of  this  study,”  said Rajah

digitisation of education and the
workplace,  which  accelerated
the  need  for  new  workplace

lakh engineers graduating every
year  in  India  remain  unem­
ployed  and  around  40%  of  the
employers encounter challenges
in attracting quality talent. It is
estimated that India will have a
skill deficit of close to 29 million
