Effects of variations in the concrete gradients on the properties of fresh & hardened
Concrete.

The properties of concrete in its fresh and hardened state may vary due to several physio-chemical
changes in the properties of concrete ingredient other than the concrete admixture used while
concreting. It is also dependent on the atmospheric condition which must be taken into
consideration.

The considerable factors are as follows ::

1) Changes in the physical and chemical properties of cement ( e.g Alkali content/sulphate content,
Standard consistency, Blaine fineness, 45 micron passing, setting time etc.)
2) The variation in the Fine aggregates - fineness modulus, Silt / clay content , water absorption etc).
3) The variation in the Coarse aggregates - gradation, Silt / clay content, water absorption,flakiness-
Elongation etc).
4) Changes in atmospheric conditions like ambient temperature, relative humidity

The factors mentioned above plays a significant role in the concrete properties irrespective of
using the same admixture at the prescribed dosage.
Necessary correction needs to be done in the admixture dosage and/or in the concrete mix
design which can possibly resolve the complications arising in the concrete properties.
