ACTIVITY PROPOSAL
I. Rationale
Reading is an interesting past time for people. It is the magic key to the world of
enlightenment and enjoyment. Moreover, reading is also a key to a moral and academic
success. It should be given emphasis for it is the springboard in learning other subjects.
However, it is quite saddening that reading in today's generation has not been valued.
Based on research and studies by the Department of Education as well as the conduct of
Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI), most of the pupils in Elementary grades
have poor reading ability and low in comprehension level, and worst, some could not even
recognize the letters of the alphabet.
To address the alarming issue on reading, the teachers develop reading
interventions and strategies that would somehow improve and uplift the reading performance
of the learners.
The presentation of the adopted research in reading intervention is initiated for the
teachers to update them with the most effective and most interactive strategies on reading
interventions. Also, this will serve as reference in intensifying their reading instructions to
reduce the struggling readers.

of SDSSU-Main Campus, Tandag City.
