FORENSIC PHOTOGRAPHY

ASSESMENT

GASCON, JERICK F BS CRIM 2-A

1. Discuss the importance of photography in police work

- Police photography preserve the scene of a crime by photographing every aspect

of it, including the victim's body, weapons used and any other evidence left
behind such as bullet fragments, clothing fibers or strands of hair. Detectives
rely on these photographs when attempting to re-create what happened. These
photographs also play an important role in criminal trials, where prosecutors
show them to jurors to prove their case. Police photographers must capture the
scene accurately and thoroughly, by photographing evidence from multiple angles
and by depicting it in a way that demonstrates its significance to the crime. And
because their photographs serve as the only permanent image of the crime scene,
police photographers must have an eye for detail so they can spot even the
smallest piece of evidence.
