PRESENTATION OF
ELECTRICAL DESIGNS

Procedure
This Standard replaces and cancels the previous revision .

This Standard is the Revalidation of the previous revision.


The Responsible CONTEC Subcommittee provides guidance on the
interpretation of this Standard when questions arise regarding its contents. The
Department of PETROBRAS that uses this Standard is fully responsible for
adopting and applying the clauses thereof.
Mandatory Requirement: a provision established as being the most adequate
CONTEC and which shall be used strictly in accordance with this Standard. If a decision

approved and registered by the Department of PETROBRAS that uses this
Standard. It is characterized by the verb forms "shall", "it is necessary...", "is
required to...", "it is required that...", "is to...", "has to...", "only ... is
permitted", and other equivalent expressions having an imperative nature.
Recommended Practice (nonmandatory) a provision that may be adopted
under the conditions of this Standard, but which admits (and draws attention
to) the possibility of there being a more adequate alternative (not written in
this Standard) to the particular application. The alternative adopted shall be
approved and registered by the Department of PETROBRAS that uses this
Standard. It is characterized by the verbal form "should" and equivalent
expressions such as "it is recommended that..." and "ought to..." (verbs of a
nonmandatory nature). It is indicated by the expression: [Recommended
SC - 06 Practice].
Copies of the registered "non-conformities" to this Standard that may

contribute to the improvement thereof shall be submitted to the Responsible
CONTEC Subcommittee.
Proposed revisions to this Standard shall be submitted to the Responsible
CONTEC Subcommittee, indicating the alphanumeric identification and
revision of the Standard, the clause(s) to be revised, the proposed text, and
technical/economic justification for revision. The proposals are evaluated
during the work for alteration of this Standard.

Foreword
PETROBRAS technical standards are prepared by Working Groups – GTs
(consisting of PETROBRAS specialists and PETROBRAS Subsidiaries specialists), are commented by Local
Representatives (representatives of the Industrial Units, Engineering Projects, Technical Divisions and
PETROBRAS Subsidiaries), are approved by Responsible Subcommittees SCs (consisting of specialists
belonging to the same speciality, representing the various PETROBRAS Departments and PETROBRAS
Subsidiaries), and approved by CONTEC General Assembly (consisting of representatives of the
Superintendencies of the PETROBRAS Departments and PETROBRAS Subsidiaries that use PETROBRAS
technical standards). A PETROBRAS technical standard is subjected to revision at any time by the Responsible
Subcommittee and must be reviewed every five years to be revalidated, revised or cancelled. PETROBRAS
technical standards are prepared in accordance with standard PETROBRAS N -1. For complete information

PREFACE

This Standard is the English version (issued in JUL/98) of Standard PETROBRAS N-2040
REV. B SET/97.

1 SCOPE

1.1 This Standard establishes the minimum conditions to be required for the presentation of
engineering designs for PETROBRAS facilities.

1.2 This Standard shall not be applied in its full contents to maritime facility designs.

3 DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of this Standard the following definitions are adopted:

3.1 Basic Electrical Design

Whole information that define the basic and concept characteristics to be followed when
preparing an electric power system.

3.2 “As Built” Design

The electrical engineering design revised, including all modifications realized during the
construction phase.

3.3 Electrical Engineering Design

Whole information necessary and sufficient for the acquisition of equipment and materials, as
well as the construction and assembly and start-up of an electric power system.

3.4 Auxiliary Substation

A substation destined to the supply electric power to a specific site or unit and the supply of
which may derive from a main substation, a generation plant or another auxiliary substation.

3.5 Main Substation (or Intake Substation)

Substation to transform the voltage received from the concession-holder at transmission level
into distribution level voltage and supply the auxiliary substations.

4 GENERAL CONDITIONS

4.1 General

4.1.1 Any item not covered by PETROBRAS standards indicated herein shall comply with the
applicable ABNT standards.

4.1.2 The electrical design documents shall be prepared according to PETROBRAS standards
N-75 - Industrial Design Acronyms, N-298 - Graphic Symbols and Designations used in
Detailing Drawings for Industrial Electrical Installations, N-299 - Numerical Symbols
Designated for Electrical Devices Function, N-898 - Graphic Symbols and Designations for
Electric Diagrams, N-1521 - Identification of Industrial Equipment, N-1672 - Form for
Technical Documents in General, N-1710 - Coding Engineering Technical Documents, N-
1913 - Material Requisition Preparation and N-2062 - Electrical Load Lists.

4.1.3 The units used on the electric power design documents shall be those of the official
metrical system unit (Metrical System-SM), with standardized abbreviations, prefixes and
suffixes. Other units are accepted if they are included on the QGU (General Measure Unit
Table) annex to CONMETRO Resolution Nº 01/82, that contains provisions on the use of
Brazil’s Metrical System. When metallic (rigid or flexible) conduits and their accessories are
used, identification of their nominal diameters in inches is acceptable.

4.1.4 Unless otherwise indicated, the language used in PETROBRAS electrical designs shall
be Portuguese.

4.2 Basic Electrical Design

It shall be consisted the following documents, unless indicate in the Contract Guidelines:

a) Basic Data for Electrical Design;


b) Electric Loads Lists;
c) Descriptive Memorandum with Technical and Economic Study of Electric
System;
d) Calculation Memorandum of Short-Circuits;
e) Load Flow Study;

f) Descriptive Memoranda on the rationales adopted for the Power, Grounding,


Lighting, Protection, Metering, Interlocking, Signaling, Alarm and Atmospheric
Discharges Protection Systems;
g) Descriptive Memorandum containing Basic characteristics of installation;
h) Hazardous Area Classification Drawing
i) One-Line Diagrams;
j) Logical Diagrams;
l) Equipment Preliminary Layout (Plan and Sections) in case of a Main Substations;
m) Transient response, harmonic analyses, stability study, etc. for Electric Systems
of Offshore Platforms and/or for other Installation, when so justified by their size.
n) Basic Electrical Design Books.

4.3 Electrical Engineering Design

They shall be consisted with two groups of documents. The first shall be issued by the designer
and the other, by the manufacturers. The two groups shall be presented separately and at
different phases during the course of design.

4.3.1 Presentation Phases of Electrical Engineering Design

Unless indicated in the contract guidelines, the electrical engineering design documents shall be
presented at different phases, in accordance with the purposes that they have been issued. At
least the following issuing shall be considered:

a) preliminary documents;
b) documents for comments;
c) documents for approval;
d) documents for developing other specialty designs;
e) documents for equipment purchase;
f) documents for construction and assembly;
g) documents “purchased” and/or “as built”.

4.3.2 Documents Issued by the Designer

The designer shall present during the different development phases of the electrical engineering
design at least the documents listed below, unless the size of the design does not need all of
them, which shall be decided by PETROBRAS.

a) Design timetable;
b) Lists of:
- Design Documents;
- Electric Loads;
- Cables and Conduits and/or Circuits;
- Materials;
- Wiring for Protection, Alarm, Signaling and Interlocking;

4.3.3 Documents Issued by the Manufacturers

Manufacturers shall present, in various phases, at least the documents listed below, unless the
equipment or materials may not require all of them, which shall be decided by PETROBRAS.

a) manufacture timetables;
b) list of equipment documents;
c) equipment drawings;
d) test reports;
e) manuals for assembly, operation and maintenance of the equipment.

5 SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

The documents comprising the electrical design (basic and engineering) shall include at least
the information indicated below:

5.1 Basic Electrical Design

5.1.1 Basic Data of Electrical Design

Documents containing basic data.

5.1.2 Lists of Electrical Loads

Sheets standardized by PETROBRAS standard N-2062 - Electric Loading List, issued by


substation, based on the basic process design of and containing:

a) listing of all electric loads, defined by the process, with relevant identification;
b) service its is destined to;
c) operational condition (main, spare or intermittent);
d) voltage;
e) number of phases;
f) power.

Notes: 1) Loads to be supplied by the emergency busbars shall be differentiated, in case this
becomes necessary, such as lighting, pressure and battery loader;
2) These sheets shall be reissued by the one preparing the detailed design as the
development of the work is carried out by same.

5.1.3 Descriptive Memorandum with Technical and Economic Study of the Electrical
System

Description made showing numerical parameters justifying the selection of the rationales
adopted for the different systems.

5.1.4 Short-Circuit Calculation Memorandum

It shall contain the parameters necessary for the calculation, the impedance diagram for every
situation of the system leading the maximum and minimum short-circuit conditions on the
points to be considered, the calculation development as such and the summary of the results.

5.1.5 Load Flow Study

It shall show the direction of both active and reactive flows, as well as the voltage values for
all the busbars for the different configurations might possibly bring up. The cases of large
machine start and restart shall be taken into consideration.

5.1.6 Descriptive Memoranda on the rationales adopted for the Power, Grounding,
Lighting, Protection, Metering, Interlocking, Signaling, Alarm and Atmospheric
Discharges Protection Systems

Description containing the principles adopted for the systems described above. For the
rationales adopted for the systems of protection, interlocking, signaling and alarm the
memoranda shall be accompanied by the relevant logical diagrams.

5.1.7 Descriptive Memorandum containing Basic Characteristics of Electrical


Installations

Complete description of installations, taking into consideration for each area, building or part
thereof the premises indicated in PETROBRAS standards N-1996 - Electrical Networks -
Design in Concrete Envelopes and Directly in-Ground Cables, N-1997 - Electrical Networks -
Design on Cables Beds, N-1998 - Design of Overhead Electrical Power Networks , N-2006 -
Design of Lighting Systems and N-2039 - Design of Substation.

5.1.8 Hazardous Area Classification Drawings

Based on article 500 of ANSI C 1 and on PETROBRAS standards N-2154 - Classification of


Areas for Electrical Installations at Drilling Rings and Production Facilities, N-2155 - Data
Sheets for Areas Classification, N-2166 - Electrical Areas Classification for Petroleum
Refinery and N-2167 - Classification of Areas for Electrical Installations at Petroleum, Gas and
Derivatives Transport Facilities, and containing following items:

a) drawing orientation;

b) indication of the predominant winds direction;


c) identification of the group to concerned substances belong to;
d) hazard source identification;
e) clear indication of locations considered with Zone 0, Zone 1, Zone 2 and area not
classified;
f) indication of classified areas extension from hazard sources on the horizontal and
vertical planes, through plans, views and sections;
g) indication of illustrative details;
h) representing of the classified areas influence by already existing hazard sources, if
any.

Note: The detailed designer shall check the drawings bearing in mind modifications in the
basic layout that may influence the original classification.

5.1.9 One-Line Diagrams

Based on Electrical Loads Lists, descriptive memoranda along with the systems rationales and
on the descriptive memorandum of the electrical installations characteristics, containing:

a) indication of the supply sources, including voltage, frequency and number of


phases;
b) indication of the normal positions for circuit breakers operation;
c) representation and identification of the incoming lines or cables, system
components of all equipment, covered by the one-line diagram, as well all the
supplied loads;
d) indication of the protective relays along with their running lines;
e) indication of the short-circuit level at the system input;
f) indication of the measuring instruments;
g) indication of the instrument transformers for protection and measurement;
h) indication of the interlocking between equipment.

5.1.10 Logical Diagrams

Based on the descriptive memoranda of the rationale adopted for the protection, interlocking,
signaling and alarm systems. Boolean Algebra shall be used for this propose.

5.1.11 Basic Electrical Design Books

One or more books shall be prepared, depending on the volume of the documentation being
prepared, for distribution to the concerned entities and to those taking part in the design. These
books shall contain all the documents described on the preceding subitems.

5.2 Electrical Engineering Design

5.2.1 Design Timetables

To be prepared in two different parts; one containing the list of documents to be issued, duly
complying with the chronological order, then following a bar chart identifying the “start” dates
of the works for the preparation of such documents and the “end” dates of the relevant works,
that is, their release dates. The other part shall comprise a PERT/CPM timetable, where all
design events shall be identified with their dates of “start”, “end”, “earlier”, “later”, etc., as
well as the critical path(s) detected.

5.2.2 Lists of Design Documents

To be prepared in order to show the documents to be issued for the design and shall contain
the following fields at least: documents numbering, document title, size, scale(s), revision and
revision date; submittal phase as per subitem 4.3.1.

5.2.3 Lists of Electrical Loads

The electrical loads lists shall be prepared according to PETROBRAS standard N-2062 –
Electrical Loads Lists. Shall be issued one list for each substation; the lists shall be based on
that electrical loads lists of the basic design, according to subitem 5.1.3. They shall be
supplemented as to updating of the loads supplies by the process as well as by the inclusion of
loads defined at the engineering design phase.

5.2.4 Lists of Cables and Conduits and/or Circuits

They shall contain:

a) identification of the circuits and/or conduits;


b) rated sectional area and hop length;
c) quantity, rated sectional and length of the conductors per circuit or conduit;
d) indication of hop origin and destination points;
e) indication of run route;
f) cable reel indication or code of the material to be used;
g) service description (power, control, signaling);
h) load operation voltage.

Note: To be issued 01 (one) list for each substation and, whenever necessary, 01 (one) list for
interconnection between substations.

5.2.5 Material List

Prepared on one or more sheets listing all the materials used, with indication of the material
description, the quantity necessary for each drawing, the stipulated clearance, the quantity
requested and the number and the relevant request of materials including those to be provided
by field.

5.2.6 Wiring List for Protection, Alarm, Signaling and Interlocking

The list can be included in the one-line diagrams or can be elaborated as separated documents,
per substation, when so required by the amount of information. The wiring shall be related by
item, duly numbered, showing:

a) the graphical device representation, as well as its function number of function, in


accordance with PETROBRAS standard N-299 - Numeric Symbols Designated
for Electrical Devices Function;
b) quantity of wires necessary for the device activation;
c) device function(protection, signaling, alarm or interlocking);
d) origin, meaning the equipment or the point where the actuating device is installed;
e) destination, meaning the equipment or site(s) where the activated element(s)
is(are) installed (stand by, circuit-breaker, alarm unit);

5.2.7 Descriptive Memoranda and/or Calculation Memorandum for:

a) Equipment Sizing: calculation sheet shall be elaborated for the sizing of the main
electric equipment; with due compliance with the considerations provided by the
applicable standards and particular requirements established by the basic design;
b) Electric Power and Distribution System: the cables shall be dimensioned conform
the criteria of capacity for conducting current in accordance with standard IEC-
287 - Calculation of the Continuous Current Rating of Cables (100% Load
Factor), voltage drop and short-circuit characteristics, with the element
conducting the greatest rated section. The calculation procedure for
determination of the pulling forces on the cables to be used that is established by
the Edison Electric Institute Underground Reference Book. The sizing of the
conduits shall meet the requirements of ANSI C1 (NEC) standard. The
PETROBRAS standards N-1996 - Electrical Networks - Design in Concrete
Envelopes of and Directly in-Ground Cables, N-1997 - Electrical Networks -
Design on Cables Beds and N-1998 - Design of Overhead Electrical Power
Networks, shall be applied;

c) Grounding System: all industrial area supplied or that which may be supplied with
electric power from the concession-holder at a voltage of 69 kV or greater shall
be provided with a general grounding network; both the main substation and the
auxiliary substations shall be an integral part of the general network; the
calculation procedures to be used for the network sizing are those established in
standard IEEE 142 and 80 (grounding networks not greater than 100 meters at
the side); the branches for equipment or structure grounding shall comply with
the requirements of article 250 of standard ANSI C 1 (NEC);
d) Lighting System: the criteria presented in PETROBRAS standard N-2006 -
Design of Lighting Systems shall be complied with;
e) Protection System: shall be elaborated by detailed designer, in case it is not
included in the supplier scope of the electrical panels; it shall define the
performance of all the protection system based on the rationale indicated in the
basic design and justifying the cable rated sections, the relay setting range, their
adjustments, the matching of impedance between the instrument transformers,
relays and cables as well as elements among themselves, with due compliance
with the IEEE standard 242 recommendations.
f) Interlocking System: shall be developed based on the cause and effect table issued
by the process designer;
g) Signaling and Alarm System: shall define the performance of all signaling and
alarm devices with basis on the rationale determined in the basic design and
justifying of the cables sizing,, capacity of both the operating and operated
devices, etc.;
h) Atmospheric Discharges Protection System: the location site requiring protection
shall define showing the criteria adopted and the materials used;
i) Construction and Assembly Service: shall define all the tasks to be carry out by
the responsible for the work execution, differentiating separately the service of:
civil construction, electromechanical assembly wiring, splices, connections and
terminals, preservation; tests, etc. Each task shall be related to its respective
engineering design documents, and shall also contain a quantitative survey on the
materials and equipment to be installed.

5.2.8 Detailed design Drawings

These shall comprise at least the following:

a) Hazardous Area Classification


The information provided by the basic design shall be ratified or rectified (as per
subitem 5.1.9) that information if during the engineering design development
changes occur in the preliminary layout or new hazard sources appear.
b) One-Line Diagrams, which shall contain:
- indications of the supply sources including voltage, frequency and number of
phases
- representation of inlet and outlet compartment and removable busbar from the
disconnecting switch units;
- representation of the devices and interconnections for the transformers forced
ventilation equipment, even when for the future ones;
- indication of the circuit-breakers regular operation position;

- representation and identification of all equipment and foreseen loads;


- indication of the voltage, number of phases and busbar capacity under both
continuous and short-circuit rating;
- representation of the panels grounding busbars;
- representation of the grounding devices of the feeders;
- representation of the panel compartments as possible future expansion design;
- representation of protection devices and their relevant performance points;
- representation of the measuring, signaling and alarm devices;
- representation of the interlocking;
- representation of the panels and motors heating resistors including their relevant
supply sources;
- identification of the conduits and circuits;
- indication of the rated sections of cable and rated size of conduits;
- indication of the total quantity of conductors per conduit/circuit;
- representation of the interconnections between the equipment protection, alarm,
signaling and interlocking circuits, individualizing all the items through their
own numbering, in accordance with subitem 5.2.6.

Notes: 1) It may also contain the wiring list for protection, alarm, signaling and
interlocking whenever so allowed by the quantity of information, with due
consideration to the considerations presented under subitem 5.2.6.
2) It shall also show using block diagrams, all the auxiliaries equipment of
the power panels as well as to further main equipment. Such auxiliaries
are block terminal boxes, storage batteries, rectifying/loader battery sets,
direct current panels, lighting distribution panels etc.
3) The anticipated expansions shall be represented by traced lines.

c) Multi-Line Diagrams, which shall contain:


- differentiation of the supply sources;
- representation and identification of the electric equipment and that of all the
anticipated loads.
- identification of the phases;
- representation of the measuring devices;
- representation of the interconnections and connections for the protection and
measuring devices, as well as for the instrument transformer.
d) Functional Diagrams
It shall be prepared for the circuits of circuit-breakers, motors, of disconnecting
switches with electric control or interlocking, etc. If the command of a particular
equipment shows certain complexity that makes the preparation or interpretation
of the functional diagrams difficult, reference shall be made to logical diagrams,
as per subitem 5.1.11; the functional diagrams shall contain:
- indication of type and value of the control circuit supply voltage and indication
of the grounding, if any;
- protection device representation of their circuits and/or branch lines;
- identification of all represented devices, along with their relevant contacts
and/or parts;
- representation and indication of the contacts function destined to remote point
alarm, commands, signaling, interlocking or disconnection, as well as stand by
contacts;

- installation side of the remote devices operating on the circuit;


e) Interconnections Diagrams, which shall contain:
- identification of the terminal block boxes and the equipment;
- identification of the terminal block and related equipment rules;
- identification of the origin and destination of the conductors incoming or
outgoing from a block terminal rule;
- identification of the cables and conduits at the terminal block box outlet through
indication of their numbers and destination.
f) Block Diagrams, which shall contain:
- prepared whenever the information amount on circuits of protection, signaling,
alarm and interlocking circuits may not allow putting the indication of that
wiring on the one-line diagram itself, as shown in item 5.2.8b. They shall have
duly identified all the equipment represented by blocks, and the conduits
interconnecting them and all the wiring inherent to same, as per subitem 5.2.8b;
g) Equipment Layout - Plan
It shall be prepared in accordance with PETROBRAS standard N-2039 - Design
of Substation, and contain:
- drawing orientation;
- predominant winds direction;
- representation of the busbars support structures, walls, fence, gates, accesses,
fire protection walls, etc.;
- equipment location and identification;
- representation of the spaces intended for future expansion, by means of traced
lines;
- indication of views and section;
- indication of the necessary coordinates;
- air pressure intake location for the air pressure or air conditioned system
(whatever the case);
- representation of busbars and power supply lines for the outdoor substations
with live busbars, having to show the phase-to-phase and phase-neutral
distances;
- location of concession-holder’s measurement cabinet, in case of substations
directly supplied from this source;
- manufacturer’s documentation reference for the pressure or ventilation system;
- indication of the relevant list of material used for the installation in cause;
- indication of all reference documents.

Note: When permitted by the information volume, the information contained on the
Equipment-Sections Layout and Details, shown under subitem 5.2.8h), may
be presented on that drawing.

h) Equipment Layout - Sections and Details


This kind of document shall present on the vertical plane, all the sections and
views shown on the Equipment Layout - Plan, with complete identification of the
equipment as well the required coordinates;
i) Equipment Structures - Sections & Details
Document applicable to the substation external yard detailed design, which shall
contain at least:
- drawing orientation;

- predominant winds direction, when so required;


- representation of the premolded support structures of the equipment, busbars,
lighting apparatuses, power receptacles;
- location, through coordinates, of all the structure represented;
- identification of all the structures represented, co-related to the relevant items
of the supplier’s list of material;
- indication of the structures burying depths;
- indication of all details necessary for supplementing the structures;
- representation of the non-premolded reinforced concrete bases, support for the
heavier equipment such as power transformer, grounding resistors, as well as
the roll rail support for the relevant transformer;
- location and dimensions of the above-mentioned bases;
- dimensions of the sump pit tanks as well as their drainage system
representation;
- representation and detail indication of the electric cable ditches;
- location of conduits interconnection between the equipment and the electric
cables ditches;
- information for the substation fence construction;
- representation of the finish bases for self-supporting premolded support
structures;
j) Electrical Equipment Bases - Location and Dimension
Document destined to developing the civil construction of electrical engineering,
auxiliary substations and/or indoor parts of the main substations, which shall
contain:
- drawing orientation;
- predominant winds direction, when so required;
- identification of the equipment;
- substation plan containing the location of the internal and external equipment
bases;
- location of the ditches for the outcropping of conduit under panels;
- dimension of the bases, conduit outcropping ditches including future outlooks;
- location of anchor bolt;
- indication of the forces caused by the equipment on the bases;
k) Diagram of Force and Weight on the Structures-Plan
Drawing applicable to the electrical and busbars equipment support structures
mounted in the main substations external area, which have to contain at least the
following:
- ground plan and sectional representation of all support structures to cause;
- plan orientation;
- indication of all coordinates on the horizontal and vertical plans;
- indication of all horizontal forces exerted on the support structures by the
traction of the guard wires and bus conducts;
- representation of the substation entry gate with indication of its distance of the
transmission line support structure;
- indication of the forces on the entry gate resulting from its transmission line
traction;
- weight indication of all the equipment, including listing of respective support
structure;

- indication of stress action on the relevant support structure resulting from the
circuit-breakers (compression or start power);
- indication of the local predominant winds direction as well as the value of the
highest speed ever recorded;
l) General Main-Plan Electric Network
This document, which is merely for purposes of orientation, should be prepared
in cases when the main network covers a very wide area thus requiring the
preparation several plan for the representation of its details. It should contain at
least the following information:
- drawing orientation;
- indication of network run;
- identification of the pull boxes or poles;
- delimitation of the areas corresponding to the several network plans;
- indication of all the plans making up a key-plan network;
m) Underground-Plan Electrical Network View
The underground electrical network shall contain at least the following items:
- drawing orientation;
- key plan located in the area represented, when there are several areas;
- location of the envelopes for the power, control and lighting systems, points of
outcropping, pulling and/or locating of the cables bundles directly thrown down
to the soil, and the location of frames;
- identification of pulling and/or frame points;
- indication of the secondary network envelopes depth, in case this information is
not included on the section detailed drawings;
- notes containing the concrete mix indication, the upper surface pigmentation of
the envelopes, kind of foundation or ditch depth preparation, conduit type,
curvature minimum radius of the conduits or cables, minimum admissible depth
for the network;
- indication of the mechanical protection for cables directly laid to soil and
physical characteristics of the material used for filling out the ditch after cable
laying as well as its respective compactor;
- detailed design of the points of pulling, identification frames and the mechanical
protection means for the cables;
- indication of the ground mesh and the grounding branches;

Notes: 1) On substation buildings where the conduits outcrop directly from them,
there shall be a specific plan. The drawing shall contain, besides the
information mentioned above, the following additional items:
- ground plan representation of the substation building, walls, fire
protection walls, fences, gates;
- representation of the external equipment bases;
- representation, through trace lines, of the internal equipment and
compartments of the substation panels;
- representation of conduit outcropping inside the substation, under the
internal equipment or beside the external equipment bases. Beside
every conduit its identification and rated size shall be shown. Those
outcroppings with great amount of conduits shall be represented
through special plan details, views and/or sections, and shall be
indicated the accessories and further structural details;

- indication of coordinates: the conduits shall be quoted at their


outcropping points, as from their center lines of the external
equipment bases, ditches under the panels;
2) At process units, the underground electric network shall be
represented, whenever possible, on the same drawing used by the civil
construction for the development of the drainage design;
3) When the quantity of information permits, the detailed design of the
profiles, sections, electrical manholes and handholds and apparent pull
boxes may remain on the same drawing and shall observe the
orientations given on subitems 5.2.8 p), q), r) and s), respectively.

n) Underground-Profile Electrical Network


Profile drawings of the main underground electrical network shall be prepared, as
defined in PETROBRAS standard N-1996 - Electrical Networks - Design in
Concrete Envelopes and Directly in-Ground. Cables. In the case of secondary
underground electrical networks representation shall be provided only in special
cases that justifying its preparation, such as in points subject to transfer or
requiring detailed representation.
The secondary electrical network profiles may be represented on the same
drawing containing the network plan, provided there is sufficient space this
representation. Whenever possible, two scale values shall be used which
correspond to one horizontal and other vertical, as minimum of 1:50 and 1:500,
respectively, so as to permit representation in details. The drawing shall contain
at least the following information:
- representation of the land profile with the main structural projections such as
streets, ditches, tubeways;
- interference representation such as buried structures and pipings;
- level coordinate indications of the land, eventual interference points, back and
upper internal wall of the pull box, inlet and outlet points of the pull box
envelopes, inclination change points of the envelopes;
o) Underground-Section Electric Network
The underground electrical network sections shall contain at least the following
information:
- identification of the sections;
- identification of conduits in the envelopes and/or of cables directly run on soil;
-indication of conduits rated sizes;
- distance between conduits and between these and the envelope external part
and/or the distance between the cables directly run on soil and between these
and the ditch side walls;
- indication of envelopes depth when dealing with secondary network, if this
information is not contained on plan;
- indication of the mechanical protection depth of cables directly run on soil; in
case this information is not found on the profiles;
- width and depth of the ditch for cables directly run on soil;
p) Constructive Underground-Characteristics Pull Boxes
The pull boxes, when used for med-voltage or high-voltage networks, shall
follow the provisions of PETROBRAS standard N-1711 - Underground Electric
Network Use Wiring Box (Manholes-EMH) Details.

When it becomes necessary to use smaller boxes for low-voltage circuit run,
telephony services, etc., details shall be prepared standardizing the least possible
number of types. The drawings presenting these boxes shall have the same
detailed design level, according to PETROBRAS standard N-1711 -
Underground Electric Network Use Wiring Box (Manholes-EMH) Details;
q) Apparent Pull Boxes for Underground-Details Electric Network
The boxes detailed design may be represented on the same drawing as that
containing the underground electrical network plan, provided there is sufficient
space for this representation. The drawing shall represent the layouts of the boxes
containing, as a minimum, the following items:
- plan orientation of each pull-point;
- identification of conduits;
- identification of pull boxes to be used, as per PETROBRAS standard N-1842 -
Even Cover Wiring Box-Material Requisition, if applicable;
- indication of the pull boxes reserved through their representation with trace
lines;
- indication of conduits accessories according to symbology established by
PETROBRAS standard N-298 - Graphic Symbols and Designations used in
Detailing Drawings of Industrial Electrical Installations;
- representation of the pull-points grounding;
- representation of typical lateral views showing the assembly detail of the boxes
and accessories and that the pull-point base;
- indication of the coordinates related to the center lines of the pull-points and
conduits;
r) Cables Underground-Disposition Pull Boxes
The respective drawings shall contain at least, following:
- drawing orientation;
- plan representation of box through its contour lines. The box walls having
“windows” should be beaten again on the horizontal plane (back plane). The
boxes shall be represented in the sequence they are on the network and duly
identified;
- representation of the conduits reaching each box “window”;
- cables identification through the source number or that of the control cable;
- representation of the cables disposition inside the box. The power cables shall
be represented by full lines and control cables by trace lines;
- indication of position and types of existing splices;
s) Overhead-Plan Electrical Network
This item shall contain at least the following items:
- drawing orientation;
- coordinates indication for locating all structures;
- location of networks and structures;
- key plan to locate the area represented, if there are several areas;
- identification of the structures;
- notes containing differentiation for the network construction, if there is no
installation Descriptive Memorandum discussing this item;
- lightning-arrests downing indication as well as the grounding branches of any
equipment or material;

Note: When the quantity of information is such as to make this possible, profile and
details of electrical network may be included in the same plan drawing and be
in accordance with subitems 5.2.8 v) and x) respectively;

t) Overhead Electrical Network - Profiles;


u) Overhead Electrical Network - Details
Shall contain at least the following items:
- indication of each type of structure, with all corresponding components (posts,
crosspieces, brackets, insulators, stays, stay supports, lightning arresters,
mufflers, sectioning switches);
- indication of fastening of the conductors to the insulators;
- indication of all the necessary coordinates;
- indication of the structures setting to the land;
- indication of connections and materials appropriate for the grounding;
v) Apparent Installation-Plan
Drawing containing the apparent running of the power, control and lighting
systems. This drawing shall contain the simplified area layout provided with the
sufficient details for the location and supporting of the conduits, ditches and cable
beds. The installations concerning instrumentation and communications shall be
represented on separate drawings:
- Conduits distribution;
. representation of all conduits with their identifications, coordinates,
accessories, rated size, level changes, design orientation and continuation
indication and further drawings;
- Cable beds distribution;
- Distribution in ditches;
. plan and section representation, showing the main ditch and its bypasses;
. indication of all arrivals of the conduits to this ditches connecting them to the
different electrical equipment and devices;
. indication of all power cables support elements, lighting and control fitted in
these ditches;
. indication of the grounding connections for these support elements;
. indication of the circuits contained in each ditch section;
. indication of the ditch dimensions at their different stretches;
. indication of the back coordinate at the different stretches of the ditch system;
. indication of this ditch system connection to the local drainage system;
. representing of the covers or gratings with their relevant dimensions;
w) Apparent Installations - Details;
y) Typical Assembly Details;
For representation of typical details, shall be mentioned PETROBRAS standards,
if any, standardized the desired installation; designer’s standard previously
approved by PETROBRAS or specified drawings. The symbols used on the
drawing shall be in accordance with PETROBRAS standard N-298 - Graphic
Symbols and Designations used in Detailing Drawings of Industrial Electrical
Installations;
The equipment assembly details shall contain at least following items:
. representation in plans, views and sections of all equipment supported by their
corresponding structures;
. representation of all piping connected to this equipment, indicating fastening
points to support structures;

. representation of all grounding connections of this equipment;


. representation of coordinates on horizontal and vertical planes;
. representation of all busbars fitting devices and the support structure, in case of
main substations;
. orientation of the plan details;
. indication of relevant list of material which shall contain following
information: item number, material description, quantity, (RM) requisition
number, relevant item and identification of the respective manufacturer’s
drawings, when applicable. This list shall be contained on the drawing itself,
together with the details;
- indication of all reference documents;
z) Building Electrical Installations-Plans and Details;
aa) Load Distribution of the Circuits and Lighting
They shall contain at least the following items:
. identification of the circuits;
. identification of the protection devices capacity;
. indication of the type, quantity, power and distribution of the lighting loads, at
the phases;
. indication of the quantity of power take-off for general uses and their
distribution at the phases;
. indication of each circuit load;
. indication of the rated section of each circuit conductors;
. indication of light fixture installation site in connection with the circuit;
ab) Protection Systems Against Atmospheric Discharges
They shall contain at least the following items:
. low ground representation of all buildings, equipment or structures to be
protected by the system with indication of all protection areas defined as from
the captors location;
. representation, in coordinate, of all buildings, structures or equipment to be
protected with indication of the field protected by the respective captors;
. representation in plan, view and section of all the captors elements, clearly
showing the connection devices to the downing cables, fastening of these
cables to the buildings, structures or equipment as well as with their
connection to the relevant grounding mesh;
. representation of the local grounding mesh destined to dissipate the burst
caused by the atmospheric discharges resulting from the captors;
. indication of the drawings orientation direction.
ac) Assembly of Equipment-Details.

5.2.9 Technical Specifications

Unless otherwise indicated, the technical specifications electrical equipment or materials shall
be those standardized by PETROBRAS. In the case of equipment without standardized
specification the designer’s standard shall be adopted.

5.2.10 Data Sheets

Unless otherwise indicated, the data sheets for request of electrical equipment or materials
shall be those standardized by PETROBRAS. In the case of equipment without standardized
data sheets, the designer’s standard shall be adopted.

5.2.11 Material Requisitions

Unless otherwise indicated, the requisition preparation for electrical equipment or materials
shall comply with the prescriptions set up by PETROBRAS standards N-1913 - Material
Requisition Preparation and N-1973 - Material Requisition for Electric Equipments, and for
materials shall be used the requisition standardized by PETROBRAS. In the case of equipment
without standardized specification, the designer’s standard shall be adopted.

5.2.12 Technical Reports

The elaboration of technical reports for electrical equipment and materials shall contain at least
the following topics:

a) objective: precise purpose definition about the technical reports presenting


clearly, in the case of equipment and materials acquisitions, their area of
application;
b) initial conditions: brief explanation about the documents received for technical
analysis and the rationale adopted for the analysis under consideration;
c) technical analysis: summary of the basic documents checking work, as well as the
documentation generated during the course of this work, with the purpose of
ratification, homogenization and standardization of several items analyzed. These
analysis shall show:
- the numbers of the requisitions issued, in cases of equipment or materials
purchases, and any other basic documents used for purchasing;
- indication of the numbering and respective dates of the documentation sent for
analysis;
- indication of supply terms for equipment or material;
- concept emitted for the documentation analyzed, submitting the most important
justifications in case of the opinion being “technically not acceptable”;
- full indication of all the technical issues pending which may by chance survive
the request for the manufacturers explanation when the opinion is “technically
acceptable”;

Note: The technical analysis and the relevant opinion shall present specific items
for each competing bidder.

d) conclusion: indication of the final opinion furnishing recommendations which are


priority for the placing of the order, if this becomes necessary. In such a case, this
order of priorities shall be justified;

Note: Attached to the technical reports, a technical evaluation map of the


proposals shall be presented, containing all items related to the data sheets,
material requisitions and in further documents integrating the purchase
order.

5.2.13 Manufacture Timetable

Elaborated by the main equipment manufacturer/supplier. The Timetable shall be prepared


preferably by the PERT system, with clear identification of the critical paths for manufacturing
of the equipment. It shall be supplied along with the technical proposal, in simplified manner
and presented again by the successful bidder, in detail.

5.2.14 List of Equipment Documents

Elaborated by manufacturers/supplier. The list shall identify all the documents to be prepared
by the manufacturer and they shall show, for each document listed, the dates anticipated for
their issue.

5.2.15 Equipment Drawing

Drawings are preferably to be scaled by groups and forwarded in parts according to the
priority for manufacturing of the equipment, as well as release of information for developing
the electrical designs or other specialties.

5.2.16 Reports or Tests

Documents forwarded by the manufacturer/supplier. The purchase documents issued by the


designer shall define what kind of tests are necessary. Should also define the need to send the
test results in prototypes. The routine and type tests performed after manufacture shall be
forwarded to the design entity for appraisal, as soon as the respective operation are effected,
whether or not they have been assisted by the purchaser.

5.2.17 Instruction Manuals for Assembly, Operation and Maintenance of the


Equipment

Documents forwarded by the manufacturer/supplier to entity responsible for electrical


engineering design and containing at least the following information:

a) equipment technical specifications as well as for all components and accessories


requested, conforming with the requirements of the approved original proposal,
and the revisions that may have been done on same time when technical
explanations and/or technical opinion are presented.
b) data sheet duly filled out “purchased” and/or “as built”;
c) equipment storage procedures and any accessory or spare part;
d) assembly procedures;
e) procedures for operation;
f) list of the spare parts supplied for 02 (two) years of operation;

g) preventive and corrective maintenance procedures of equipment and for all


accessories requested;
h) technical catalogs with all characteristic data of the accessories requested “as
built”;
i) reports on all tests and experiments to which the equipment was submitted after
manufacture.

5.2.18 Electrical Engineering Design Books

The designer shall prepare sets of one or more books in accordance with the quantity of
documents prepared. These books shall contain the entire documentation described in subitems
5.2.1 to 5.2.11.
