    The dimension, fixing the the space between the edges of the workpiece and the weld is not represented in
    symbolic notation but indicated on the drawing.
    The absence of any specification of length means that the weld runs through the overall length of the
    workpiece.

    The dimensions of the main cross section (a) are put down on the left side of the symbol.
    The measures of length ( l ) are put down on the right side of the symbol.
