Thursday, 25 November 2021 12:11 pm

1. Given the following data for a concrete mix:

Target mean strength = 40 Mpa
Slump = 75 mm to 150 mm
Water content per cubic meter of concrete = 180 kg/m^3
Water - cement ratio by weight = 0.48
Sp. Gr. Of cement = 3.15
Sp. Gr. Of fine aggregates = 2.68
Sp. Gr. Of coarse aggregates = 2.64
Air content = 1%
Fine aggregates = 33% of total volume of aggregates
Unit weight of concrete = 23.4 kN/m^3

a. Calculate the required weight (kg) of cement and water per cubic meter of concrete
b. Calculate the required weight (kg) of fine aggregates per cubic meter of concrete.
c. Calculate the required weight (kg) of coarse aggregates per cubic meter of concrete

2. Given the following data of concrete mix

Slump = 50 mm - 100 mm
Water - cement ratio = 0.418
Weight of water = 200 kg/ m^3
Volume of coarse aggregates = 0.668 m^3/m^3
Dry-rodded unit weight of coarse aggregate = 15 kN/m^3
Unit weight of concrete = 23.5 kN/m^3

a. Compute the weight of dry-rodded coarse aggregate

b. Compute the combined weight (kN) of cement and water.
c. Compute the dry weight (kN) of sand
