1. Số tính từ ở dạng so sánh bất quy tắc

Tính từ So sánh hơn So sánh hơn nhất

2. 1 số quy tắc chuyển sang tính từ ở dạng so sánh

* Hầu hết các tính từ có một âm cấu tạo so sánh hơn và hơn nhất giống như “clean” thì -er và -
est được nối vào dạng nguyên của tính từ.

* Những tính từ tận cùng bằng một phụ âm duy nhất sau một nguyên âm duy nhất thì nhân đôi
phụ âm cuối trước khi thêm -er hay -est.

big – bigger – biggest

fat – fatter – fattest

* Những tính từ tận cùng bằng -e như nice, thì chỉ thêm -r và -st.

fine – finer – finest

* Những tính từ tận cùng bằng -y sau 1 phụ âm như tidy thì ở dạng so sánh hơn và hơn nhất -
y được thay bằng -i.

dirty – dirtier – dirtiest

* Có một số động từ hai âm có thể dùng so sánh hơn và so sánh hơn nhất theo quy luật của cả tính
từ ngắn hay tính từ dài.
