Cấu trúc so sánh

1. So sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn

Cấu trúc:
be + short adj -er + than

Ví dụ: - This book is thicker than that one.

2. So sánh hơn với tính từ dài
Cấu trúc:
more + adj/adv + than

Ví dụ:
- He is more intelligent than I am = He is more intelligent than me.
Lưu ý:
So sánh hơn được nhấn mạnh bằng cách thêm much hoặc far trước hình thức so sánh
Ví dụ: My house is far more expensive than hers.
III. Cách thêm đuôi ER vào tính từ so sánh hơn
– Với tính từ có 1 âm tiết: long, short, tall,… chỉ việc thêm er
– Tính từ kết thúc bằng e => chỉ việc thêm r để tạo thành dạng so sánh hơn
– Tính từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm y –> ta đổi y thành i
Ví dụ: Happy => happier; dry => drier
– Tính từ kết thúc có dạng phụ âm + nguyên âm + phụ âm => gấp đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm đuôi er
Ví dụ: big - bigger; hot - hotter
– Tính từ kết thúc bằng ow, er => thêm đuôi er
Ngoại lệ: guilty, eager dùng với more vì là tính từ dài
+ Một số tính từ và trạng từ biến đổi đặc biệt khi sử dụng so sánh hơn.
