On behalf of The Institute of Construction Technology (ICoT)), Public Service Recruitment


Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill 36 one-year contract vacant posts
mentioned below.

1.0 THE INSTITUTE OF CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY


The Institute of Construction Technology (ICoT) is an Institute under the Ministry of
Work and Transport (Works Sector) established on the 6th of February 2017, by the
National Council for Technical Education with full registration as a Technical
Education and Training Institution. ICoT aims to provide professional training in the
construction industry using the state of art technology for sustainable and socio-
economic needs of Tanzania.

1.0.1 TUTORS (CIVIL ENGINEERING) – 3 POSTS


1.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for NTA level 4,5 &
6 programs;

ii. To set, invigilate and mark NTA level 4,5 & 6 examinations;

iii. To participate /contribute in curriculum development;

iv. To participate in developing and managing various institute activities;

v. To Conducts research and publish/disseminate results;

vi. To carry out consultancy and community services;

vii. To write teaching manuals;

viii. To supervise field practical, special projects;

ix. To attend/organize workshops, conferences and symposia; and

x. To performs any work of the Institute as assigned by relevant authorities.

1.0.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A holder of Bachelor Degree/Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering with a


minimum GPA of 3.5.

1.0.4 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.5 TUTORS (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING) – 3 POSTS


1.0.6 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

minimum GPA of 3.5.

1.0.17 VOCATIONAL TRAINING TEACHER (CIVIL ENGINEERING)- 6 POSTS


1.0.18 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To issue instructions as per scheme of training of a specified unit by interpreting
the curricula and its guidelines to facilitate practical preparation;
ii. To participate in delivering instructions to trainees through demonstration in order
to impart properly the intended practical skill and attitude;
iii. To guide the safe use of training tools and equipment by performing daily
preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain the life span of same; and
iv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

1.0.19 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A holder of Diploma/FTC in Civil Engineering


Possess a Vocational Teachers Training Certificate or should be ready to pursue
Training immediately after employment. Experience and possession of a
vocational teaching certificate will be an added advantage.

1.0.21 VOCATIONAL TRAINING TEACHER (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING)- 2 POSTS

ii. To participate in delivering instructions to trainees through demonstration in order

iv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

1.0.30 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To issue instructions as per scheme of training of a specified unit by interpreting
the curricula and its guidelines to facilitate practical preparation;
ii. To participate in delivering instructions to trainees through demonstration in order
to impart properly the intended practical skill and attitude;
iii. To guide the safe use of training tools and equipment by performing daily
preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain the life span of same; and
iv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

1.0.31 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A holder of Diploma/FTC in Information Technology

• Possess a Vocational Teachers Training Certificate or should be ready to pursue


Training immediately after employment. Experience and possession of a
vocational teaching certificate will be an added advantage.

1.0.32 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.33 ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT OFFICER II -1 POST


1.0.34 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To maintain books of accounts for recurrent and development expenditure;


ii. To maintain payment vouchers;
iii. To post revenue and expenditure to the books of accounts;
iv. To prepare various report for all collected cash;
v. To assist in preparing financial reports as may be required;
vi. To assist in monitoring Institute performance against targets; and
vii. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor from time
to time.

1.0.35 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE


• Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration majoring in
Accountancy or Finance or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions or
ATEC II offered by NBAA.

1.0.36 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.37 CLINICAL OFFICER -1 POST


1.0.38 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To make proper diagnosis of diseases
ii. To prescribe treatments;
iii. To treat minor injuries;
iv. To treat students; and
v. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by relevant authorities.

1.0.39 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE


• Diploma in Clinical Medicine or equivalent from recognized Institutions and should
have an experience of at least 3 years in the field of expertise.

1.0.40 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.41 ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER -1 POST


1.0.42 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To assist in attending enquiries from bidders and supplies;


ii. To prepare and keep tally cards for each items;
iii. To check and prepare statements of requirements;
iv. To receive procured goods;
v. To prepare issues vouchers and draft Indents;
vi. To assist evaluating routine, simple and low value procurement;
vii. To conduct daily stock check;
viii. To issue goods to customers;
ix. To arrange stores in bins and location;
x. To participate in stock-taking/check lists and keep records; and
xi. To perform other related duties as may be directed.

1.0.43 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE


Holder of Diploma in one of the following fields: Material Management, Business
Administration majoring in Supplies or completion of part II of PSPTB Professional course
or equivalent qualifications and must be computer literate.
1.0.44 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.45 LIBRARY ASSISTANT -1 POST


1.0.46 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To display new books and other reading materials;


ii. To upkeep back sets of newspapers and journals;
iii. To prepare cuttings from newspapers of relevance to the Institute;
iv. To handle simple enquiries from readers; and
v. To undertake bibliographical searching.

1.0.47 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Library Studies from a reputable training institute recognized by
Tanzania Educational Authorities.

1.0.48 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.49 MATRON -1 POST


1.0.50 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To supervise cleaning and domestic staff.


ii. To keep students records up to date.
iii. To order cleaning, domestic and medical supplies for the students.
iv. To carry out inventories of fixtures and fittings and reporting the
need for repairs and replacements.
v. To make sure all the needs of the students are met.
vi. To advise students on their careers.
vii. To ensure a friendly studying environment for the students.

1.0.51 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology; Development


studies and any relevant field from recognized institutions.

1.0.52 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.53 WADEN --1 POST


1.0.54 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To ensure safe and healthy living and working environment for resident students;
ii. To promote a collegiate environment, good order and social harmony in the halls
of residence;
iii. To enforce discipline and code of conduct in the halls of residence as per the ICoT
policies and regulations;
iv. To complete necessary administrative tasks such as report writing, surveys, filing
incidents, documentation and record keeping with respect to Residence Halls;
v. To maintaining accurate records and writing reports to assist to identify trends that
may require action;
vi. To look after the welfare of the students;
vii. To check the rooms and visit the students at any time; and
viii. To be a custodian and in-charge of all the hostel properties.

1.0.55 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Certificate in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology; Development
studies and any relevant field from recognized Institutions

1.0.56 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.57 PERSONAL SECRETARY II- 2 POSTS

1.0.58 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To type letters, reports and documents;


ii. To receive visitors, screen and direct them to relevant officers;
iii. To keep in safe custody reports and other records of events;
iv. To keep and make appointments and reminds the respective officer accordingly;
v. To search for files, documents and others information;
vi. To receive and deliver directives to the respective officers;
vii. To receive files, distribute them to action officers;
viii. To prepare a list of office supplies and make follow up to ensure their availability;
and
ix. To perform other related duties as may be assigned by one’s reporting officer.

1.0.59 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Certificate in Secretarial Studies who have passed Shorthand (English) and Hati
Mkato (Kiswahili) at a speed of 80 words per minute with computer knowledge in
MS-Word, MS-Excel, Internet, Email, MS-Publisher from a recognized institution.

1.0.60 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

1.0.61 DRIVERS - 3 POSTS

1.0.62 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To drive ICoT vehicles skillfully;


ii. To maintain and keep up-to-date log-books;
iii. To adhere to Maintenance Schedules;
iv. To keep motor vehicle in good running conditions and report immediately faults
and defects to Transport officer;
v. To undertake minor repairs when necessary;
vi. To ensure that valid documents are obtained prior to commencing any journey;
vii. To ensure safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times;
viii. To take care of the vehicle assigned to him/her by carrying out standard checks;
ix. To report without delay any detected fault or defect on the motor vehicle;
x. To perform messenger Duties and Responsibilities such as dispatching
documents/ letters, collecting mail, photocopying of documents;

xi. To ensure safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times; and
xii. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by superiors.

1.0.63 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Secondary Education Certificate with passes in Kiswahili and English


• Valid Driving License Class C or E and
• One-year Basic Driving Course plus driving experience of at least one year without
causing accidents.
• Possession of Trade Test Grade II/Level II in Motor Vehicle
Maintenance/Mechanics is an added advantage.

1.0.64 REMUNERATION PACKAGE - AS PER GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE

GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania generally with an age not above 45
years of age except for those who are in Public Service;
