DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
UNIT-1
6. Define (i) Active Power (ii) Reactive Power (iii) Apparent Power
(iv) Power factor and give their units
7. The voltage applied to a circuit having single resistor with R=50Ω is v=
230 Sin (314t). find (i) Max current in resistor (ii) RMS current in resistor (iii)
Power dissipated in resistor (iv) supply voltage frequency
8. Define peak factor and give its relation with r.m.s. value.
UNIT-2
10. A 6-pole DC motor takes 50 A armature current, the armature has wave
connected 580 conductors. The flux per pole is 0.001Wb. Calculate the
torque developed by armature of DC motor.
11. A 4-pole DC motor is fed at 400V and taken armature current of 35A.
The resistance of armature circuit is 0.2 ohm. The armature winding is wave
connected with 800 conductors useful flux per pole is 0.023 wb. Calculate
speed of the motor.
13. Explain the speed control of DC shunt motor by field flux control
method and draw the curve between speed versus field current.
14. A 6 pole lap wound DC generator has 600 conductors on its armature.
The flux per pole is 0.04 Wb. Calculate the speed of the generator which
must to generate a voltage of 300V
UNIT-3
21. A single phase transformer has 350 primary and 1,050 secondary turns.
The net cross-sectional area of the core is 55 cm2. If the primary winding be
connected to a 400 V, 50 Hz single phase supply, calculate (i) maximum value
of the flux density in the core and (ii) the voltage induced in the secondary
winding.
