Mobile phones are the most widely used gadgets in
the society at present time. These play a huge role on
humans’ everyday living. A mobile phone is a portable
handheld electronic device that has many functions.
It allows you to communicate with other people
through voice, message and mails (emails), connects
to the internet to search for information, capture
pictures and record videos through the camera.
Phones are considered to be advantageous and useful
tools utilized on every aspects of life like in recreation,
work life, personal and social life, education and
others. Also, they could replace computers and
laptops because tasks that are done in computers can
be carried out by the use of these phones.
These mobile phones can always be seen everywhere at
any time. They are primarily used for communications
to reach and connect to people even if they are so far
away from each other. Nowadays, phones are used for
education like in online class and searching for
information, work purposes, and more. Sometimes
people became abusive in using phones and
mishandling them. An example of misusing our phones
is the using of these while charging. This could damage
the battery and our phone itself. Dropping our phone,
letting liquid touch it carelessly, and other unfortunate
events could destroy these gadgets. Also, overtime,
phones could not function anymore because of the
length of years these were used and maybe it could be
mobile issues.
Electronic waste is one of the largest contributors of
garbage in the world. There are 40 million tons of
electronic waste every year, worldwide. Mobile
phone waste is a large part of electronic waste. As
newly developed smartphones show up and existing
phones are destroyed, many cellphone users
discarded their phones. According to statistics, every
year, up to 250 million mobile phones are replaced
worldwide by new models and only less than 20% of
these unwanted phones are being recycled. Most
mobile phone waste are mostly broken LED screens,
bloated batteries and simply the phone itself.
