1. Factual information is a foundation for

Choices:
● Debate
● Summarization
● Deliberation

Answer: Summarization

2. Statistics is the science for

Choices:
● Collecting
● Analyzing
● Separating

Answer: Separating

3. Statistics
Choices:
● Provide incorrect information
● Chance to learn topic information
● Analyzing and collecting data

Answer: Provide incorrect information

4. Functions or uses
Choices:
● Statistics assists in the understanding and correct description of natural events
● statistics aids in the correct and efficient design of a statistical investigation
● Statistics does not aid in the collection of useful quantitative data

Answer: Statistics does not aid in the collection of useful quantitative data

5. Functions or uses
Choices:
● Statistics aids in the presentation of complicated data in a tabular, diagrammatic, or
visual format that is easy to understand.
● Through qualitative measurements, statistics aids in understanding the nature and
pattern of variability of a phenomenon.
● Statistics offers us with the tools we need to transform large amounts of data into useful
information for decision-making.

Answer: Through qualitative measurements, statistics aids in understanding the nature

and pattern of variability of a phenomenon.

Activity #2: ENUMERATION

Among the 8 limitations of statistics, list at least 4 limitations.

1. Results are true only on average
2. Qualitative Aspect Ignored
3. It is liable to be miscued
4. Laws are not exact
Among the 7 characteristics of statistics, list at least 4 characteristics.
1. Statistics are Numerically Expressed
2. Statistics for a Pre-determined Purpose
3. Statistics are Aggregate of Facts
4. Statistics are Collected in a Systematic Manner

Activity #3: ENUMERATION

List at least 5 differences of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.

1. Descriptive Statistics describes the population under study, while Inferential Statistics draws
conclusions about the population, on the basis of sample analysis and observation.
2. Descriptive statistics deals with the organization, analysis and presentation of data in a
meaningful way, while inferential statistics compares, tests and predicts data.
3. Descriptive statistics illustrates data in charts, graphs and tables, while inferential statistics
utilizes probability.
4. Descriptive statistics elaborates a situation, , while inferential statistics explains the chances
of occurrence of an event.
5. Descriptive statistics explains the data, which is already known, to summarize sample, while
inferential statistics attempts to extend beyond the data available.

Activity #4: ESSAY

Answer in not more than 5 sentences:

Among the fundamental elements of Statistics, which for you is the most essential? Justify your
answer.

(place your answer here)

The description “fundamental” gives an outright implication that the absence of one
element is the totality of none, but if I were to choose, I’d say sample. By the definition
itself, it can be deduced that no data can be collected, organized, and analyzed if the
subject for analysis, the sample, does not exist. A sampling unit is the building block of a
data set (Daniel, 2018, as cited in SST, 2018).

given product for the period 2006-2007.
Inferential 3. A forecaster predicts the results of an election using the number of votes cast in 15
out of 25 barangays.
Inferential 4. Men are better in math than women.

III.
In to 2-3 sentences, what you have learned in our topics this morning?

(place your answer here)

The presentation of the topics had widened my perspective about the nature of statistics. It
also provided ample explanations about the basic concepts dealt in the discipline that
enabled me to learn how to identify one specific data from another.
