Intro: They say rules go beyond what our government impose upon us. They say rules, the law
truly came from above. the Israelites, as God’s chosen people, were first given these laws as
God’s recognition as their one and only revered supreme being. Inscribed in stone tablets,
Moses received these laws from God in Mt. Sinai, to be the foundation of morality, mold our
spirituality as Christians and develop a strong relationship with God. But now, only a few truly
understand, and live up to these laws. Aseret Hadevarim, remind us, God why have you given
them?

2. thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain.


. We are told neither to commit blasphemy and disrespect, nor cover or ebb the
intensity of evil deeds through the mention of God’s name. We must prohibit ourselves from
uttering falsehood for God and His name is sacred and shall be dealt with honor and reverence.
10. thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods.
Within ourselves, we shall not foster envy and evil desires for other people’s
possessions and achievements for doing such is a sin. In lieu develop contentment and express
gratitude for what we have. God asks us to celebrate our neighbor’s progress and success as
much as we celebrate ours.
