8. Information in voyage-related data which most AIS equipment does not have capability?
- It refers to the total number of passengers on board.
9. How many characters of free text allows AIS field for destination?
-Up to 20 characters of free text.
10. This data normally has to be entered only once into the AIS system which remains generally constant?
- The MMSI, the ship's name, the call sign, the IMO number, the kind of vessel, the length and beam, the location of
the location fixing antenna, and the height over the keel are all included.
13. Data comprises information that is normally changing according to the ship’s motion?
-Dynamic Data.
14. The United Nations code for entering both the port of departure and the next port of call?
-The UN/LOCODE code.
15. What is a system which is internal to a GNSS receiver that can determine whether the position fix has been

- The use of AIS does not absolve the OOW of the responsibility to adhere to the Collision Regulations at all times.
18. The system allows up to 160 characters per message but the shorter the message the more easily it will find free
space for transmission?
-Short safety and security-related messages.
19. In what entry should be made stating the AIS has been switched off?
- If the AIS poses a risk to the vessel's safety or security, or if a security incident is imminent, it may be disabled.
20. The broadcast parameters set to be used by an AIS ship station than can be remotely controlled by the shore
station?
- The Regional Operating Settings
21. Why is it necessary to regularly check the information or data in the AIS?
-Because it gives precise historical data on time, and so on
22. What is the role of AIS in enhancing the safety and security of navigation as sea? Cite sample relevant regulations.
-The goal of AIS is to help with target tracking by recognizing vessels.
3. If your vessel is 299.5 GT and routeing Mindanao to Sabah, do you need AIS, why?
- Yes, because maintaining a high level of safety while sailing is critical. I can utilize AIS to determine what is going
on around the ship as well as other pertinent information.
4. How do you know which of the vessels pose the highest risk by using AIS, especially when there are 80 to 100, or
even 30 ships on your vicinity?
- If my AIS target becomes a dangerous target, I'll know which of the ships poses the most risk, and I'll be notified
that those ships are a threat to us. If I do it, I will be able to intervene to avoid a potential collision.
