The park brake mounts on the rear drive line to the rear axles. It is dry-disc and self-
adjusting that is spring-applied and Hydraulic-released. It automatically applies if
the engine stops or the ignition is in the “OFF” position.
With the dump body raised and the support in place , the park brake disc pad lining
can be inspected. There should be a minimum of 3/16 inch or 5 millimeters of the
pad remaining.
The axles used on the 370E, 410E and 460E series trucks include front, mid and
rear axle assemblies. All axles are rigid (non-steered) planetary-type axles. The
suspension mountings are integral to the cast housings. The E-series axles have
many benefits over the D-series axles including longer design life, increased load
capacity, a higher capacity hydraulically applied differential lock, increased brake
capacity, a filtered and pressurized lubrication system, and significantly lower
windage.

The axles include inboard-mounted multiple wet disc brake assemblies with forced
oil cooling. The brake assemblies are located on each side of the differential case.
Each service brake assembly consists of a brake piston, four friction discs with
bonded facing material and five separator plates. There are retractor springs in
each service brake pack that return the piston when the brakes are released.

All E-Series trucks use multi-piece wheels with valve-stem protection. Several
different tire suppliers provide tires to suit customers’ applications. Low profile tires
are available on all E series for more ground contact for soft underfoot conditions
