1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Project Overview
PT Pertamina PERTA ARUN GAS intends to build new gas pipeline distribution 24
inch, which have one tie in point from Gate Valve 16 inch future connection to 12 inch
on metering LKM-M-001 A/B, and distribution to PLTMG Sembagut II PT. PLN.
1.2 Scope
This specification defines the minimum material requirement of pipes, fitting, flanges,
stud bolts & nuts, gaskets and valves on the Project “Pembangunan Fasilitas Suplai
Gas dan Metering Untuk PLTMG Sumbagut - 2 peaker".
1.3 Definition
The definitions contained in this document are as follows:
CLIENT CLIENT is defined as PT. PERTA ARUN GAS
CONTRACTOR CONTRACTOR / PURCHASER is defined as PT. PATRA
DRILLING CONTRACTOR.
VENDOR VENDOR is defined as the selected company by Contractor to
supply the equipment, material, and service detailed in this
specification. This is the entity having unit responsibility as defined
in the industry codes and standards.
Others Others are defined as the companies, which have been contracted
by PT. PATRA DRILLING CONTRACTOR to supply equipment,
service or material.

3. PIPES
3.1 Pipe Wall Thickness
a. Piping wall thickness shall be calculated in accordance with ASME B31.3 and
Specification for Piping Design.
b. Pipe wall thickness values that are specified in the piping material specification are
adequate for the full range of pressure/temperature design.
c. Piping wall thickness provided in this document doesn't include any additional
thickness which may be required for thermal load, live loads, hydraulic shock, or

loads and forces from other causes, all of which must be considered in the design
of piping system.
d. All caused of thermal loads, live loads, hydraulic shock or other loads in piping
system will calculate in pipe stress analysis report.
3.3 Nipples
a. All nipples shall be manufactured from pipe in accordance with this specification.
b. Carbon steel (CS) pipe nipples shall be schedule 160 minimum.
4. END ADAPTOR
4.1 General
End adaptors connected to equipment shall comply with the requirements of the
relevant equipment data sheet.
4.2 Flanges
a. All flange ends of piping valves, fitting and special items shall comply with the
requirements of this specification.

b. All material carbon content(%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM A 36.10.
c. All carbon steel flange materials shall meet the requirements of ASTM A 105.
d. Flange materials shall comply with the relevant carbon, carbon equivalent, hardness
and requirement for pipe in accordance with this specification.
e. Pressure I Temperature ratings of flanges %" NB through 24" NB are based on the
latest version of the ASME B16.5. Pressure/Temperature rating of flanged
components larger than 24" are based on ASME B16.47 Series A
f. All flanges shall be supplied to ASME B16.5 dimensions for the specified flange
rating.
g. Flange facings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5 for RF, FF and RTJ.
h. Flange gasket surface finishes shall be in accordance with ASME B46.1 and B16.5
and the following:
i. Spades, spacers and blinds shall be in accordance with API STD 590 and shall
have gasket contact surface finishes as for flanges.
j. Where flanges mating material is different face to face, insulation kit shall be applied
to avoid potential galvanic corrosion.
5. VALVES
a. Control valves and shutdown valves shall comply with the more stringent
requirement of this specification and the general instrument specification.
b. All material carbon content (%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM.
c. Valve body and trim materials shall meet the requirements.

d. All metallic valve material exposed to process fluids in sour service shall conform
to the hardness requirements of NACE MR 0175. CS valve components shall
have a maximum hardness of 248 HV10. Hardness testing shall be performed in
accordance with a CLIENT.
e. All non-metallic valve materials exposed to process fluids shall be suitable for the
relevant process conditions.
f. Two or three piece threaded body valves with threaded end connections are not
allowed
g. Valves are numbered in accordance with section 5.6 of this specification.
h. Repair by welding of cast valves is not permitted.
6. PIPE FITTINGS
a. All material carbon content (%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM
b. Carbon steel fittings shall meet the requirements of ASTM A234 Grade WPB and
ASTM A105N as applicable.
c. Grade F304 or ASTM A403 Grade WP 304 as applicable and the material
requirements specified for piping in this specification.
d. Wrought and forged fitting materials shall comply with the relevant carbon, carbon
equivalent, hardness and requirements for pipe in accordance with this
specification.
e. Fittings manufactured from seamless pipe shall be in accordance to ASME B31.3
and requirements of this specification shall have computed bursting pressure at
least equals to the straight pipe from which they were manufactured.
f. Dimensions of metallic buttweld fittings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.9
with socket weld and threaded fittings to ASME B16.11.
g. All pipe fittings shall be supplied with wall thickness and nominal sizes that meet
ASME B36.1 OM and 836.19M.
h. Fittings larger than 1-1/2" NB and swage nipples shall not be manufactured from
bar stock. Swage nipples shall be manufactured from pipe per the applicable
material class.
i. Repair by welding of wrought fittings is not permitted.
j. Screwed connection is not permitted to be used for class rating above #150 except
for size below 2".

k. Where applicable for joint construction, SW/screwed for ASME #300 rating and
below shall be 3000lb class, ASME #600 rating and above shall be 60001b class.
7. BOLTING
a. The steels used for the fabrication of the bolting shall be produced in a MARTIN
furnace, in an electric furnace, or by the basic oxygen process.
b. Stud bolts and nuts may be machined from treated steel rods. However, nuts may
also be forged.
c. Screws shall be made by die-working the heads.
d. All parts shall undergo thermal hardening treatment in accordance with the
requirements of the applicable codes and standards listed as reference
documents.
e. Except as otherwise specified in the order, only bolting specified to standard
ASTM A320 shall undergo toughness tests.
f. Bolts and nuts material specification for carbon steel based material lines. These
requirements shall also amend bolts and nuts specification (which was previously
stated as ASTM A 193 Grade 87 with nuts to ASTM A 194 Grade 2H) for all
carbon steel.
g. Studs of 1" diameter and smaller shall be UNC, with those 1-1/8" diameters and
larger being UN8 series.
h. Stud bolts shall be threaded along their entire length. The machining and surface•
condition tolerances applicable to the various threading shall conform with the
following class:
i. Class 2A of Standard ASME B 1.1 for stud bolts and screws
j. Class 2B of Standard ASME B 18.2.2 for nuts
k. The diameters and lengths of stud bolts and Hex screws ("Heavy" series) shall
comply with the standards ASME B16.5 and ASME B18.2.1, except for stud bolts
1" diameter and larger which shall be one diameter longer to accommodate
hydraulic bolt tensioner.
l. All stud bolts must be long enough to ensure that there are 2 full threads visible
outside the nuts after the bolts have been fully tightened. Above-water bolt
extensions beyond the nut shall be protected from corrosion by threaded metal
caps.

m. All nuts shall be of the hexagonal type ("Heavy" series) and shall be in accordance
with the standard ASME B18.2.2.
8. GASKETS
Spiral wound gaskets shall be used for all flanged joints except for Ring type joints.
Spiral wound gaskets shall conform to the following:
• 4.4 mm nominal thickness
• Stainless steel windings
• Graphite filler
• Inner and outer (guide) rings stainless steel 316
• Maximum gasket hardness in sour services is 248 HV1O
• Design to ASME B16.20
9. SPECTACLE BLIND
• Provide spectacle blinds as indicated on the P&IDs.
• Spectacle blinds shall be accessible from grade, deck, or platform. Blinds located in
a pipeway are considered accessible. Blinds that weigh over 100 lbs. shall be
accessible by mobile equipment. Where this is not possible, provide davits or
hitching points.
• Stagger closely grouped flanges with blinds.
