J METAL WORK

The bidders are requested to refer General Notes, Pricing

Preambles, Drawings, Specifications, Conditions of Contract,
Special Conditions of Contract and all other relevant documents
prior to pricing of the following items. Note

Aluminium work and Glazing

All ironmongery and fixing hardware for this section shall be high
quality heavy duty fittings in original make and rates shall include
for all necessary ironmongery. Note

All Aluminium extrusions shall be Alumax or equivalent in

approved make and powder coated to not less than 60 microns
from approved source. Note

Rate for Aluminium / Glass partitioning shall include for partition

doors, other necessary openings required, all fixing hardware and
approved ironmongery including locks etc., to the Engineers
approval. Note

Rates for all aluminium doors and windows shall include for sub
frames. Note

Rates for external glazed walling, doors and windows shall include
for suitable scaffolding for installation unless otherwise provided
separately. Note

All aluminium frames shall be exterior quality powder coated (not

less than 60 microns) in approved colour with correct sizes and
thickness as specified by the manufacturer to suit with the actual
dimensions of openings including all surfaces and method of
construction and strong enough to stand for the specified wind
pressure. All fixings shall be to suit the location and environment of
the project and shall be in materials free from corrosion with all
primary and secondary framing, fixings and accessories. All frames
shall be in beveled edge corners.
Note

The contractor shall submit the design calculation, details and other
required fixing shop drawings for the Engineers' approvals.
Note

All glass in external glazed doors and windows shall be as per the
schedule depend on the size of the opening as per manufacture's
instruction in an approved manufacture to suit with the specific
requirements. All glass shall be in approved make.
Note
Sealant, beadings and gaskets to be used, shall appropriate to the
climate of Sri Lanka and the environment of the location of this
project (specially close proximity to Airport and Industrial Estate of
Katunayake Free trade zone and air pollution should be considered
on a future) and necessary technical information's to be submitted
for prior approval. All joints to be sealed in an appropriate manner
and shall be in approved make silicon beading sealant with
structural silicon. All gaskets, rubber beading shall be in approved
make and colour.
Note

Shop drawings of aluminium doors, windows and fixing details to

be submitted by the contractor for prior approval of the Engineer.
Note

Rates shall include for aluminium paneling, glazing, framing,

fixings, beadings, gaskets, sealant, high quality ironmongery for
windows and doors and precaution to prevent ingress of water and
water leaks, fixing accessories and hardware. Note

All ironmongery for aluminium doors and windows shall be heavy

duty in original make to the approval of the Engineer. Note

The Contractor shall submit a guarantee for fire rated doors from
the manufacturer of the fire doors. All fire rated doors shall be
manufactured by a reputed fire rated door manufacturer.
Note

Rates for fire rated doors shall include for all ironmongery
requirement for fire doors in high quality reputed manufacture
unless measured separately. Note

The bidderer shall submit the following details together with the

Rate for roller doors shall include automatic open/close

mechanism locking devices and Zn/Al cladding cover at the top
of the door. Note

All Aluminium doors shall include reputed make approved

door closers. Note
Coated Glass EN 1096; Double Glazed units EN 1279, ASTM
2188; Laminated Glass EN ISO 12543, ASTM 1172; Tempered or
Heat Strengthened Glass EN 12150 Note

The Sun-guard Low-e Neural Plus 50 Laminated double-glazed

glass for external glazing shall be of 33.52mm thickness, tempered,
heat strengthened and laminated, and double glazed by a processor
certified by the glass manufacturer and will have the following

Proposed glass shall be the outboard lite of the Sun-guard high

performance Low-e glass shall be of 8mm thickness Tempered
glass. The inboard lite of the double-glazed unit shall be clear float
heat strengthened, laminated glass of 13.52mm thickness. The air
gap between the 8mm Tempered Low-e glass and the 13.52mm heat
strengthened clear laminated glass of the IGU will be 12mm or
equivelent glass. Note
