2. Explain why crop-weed competition occurred. (10pts)

Their competition begins when there is a short supply of minerals, moisture, and light. Each
party will try to get as much as they can and try to grow as much as possible. The weed
suppresses the crop and result in reduction of yield. The crop also suppresses the weeds, a
condition often found in row crop cultures. Competition and allelopathy are the main
interactions, which are of importance between crop and weed. Allelopathy is distinguished from
competition because it depends on a chemical compound being added to the environment while
competition involves removal or reduction of an essential factor or factors from the environment,
which would have been otherwise utilized.

Assessment:
Make a REFLECTION of what you learned in the lessons presented in this Module. Summarize
the highlights of the lessons based on your own understanding. (20 points). The blank space is
intended for your reflection

Reflect on my own learning. This generally involves making connections between my learning
experiences and educational theories, as well as considering the implications for the future. What I
learned from the lessons presented in this module is thinking about the definition and concept of
weeds. I see myself as an excited, conscientious and learner motivated by understanding the unknown.
I loved exploring the world using my imagination, literature and by getting my hands dirty. then
discovered the principles of crop protections.
