TITLE: METHOD STATEMENT FOR PAINTING WORKS

1.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this method of statement is to describe the sequence of works and
other imminent measures involved in painting. Works shall be carried out in compliance
with the drawings, project specifications and materials.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

The work shall include all labour, materials, and equipment that is necessary for the
application of painting work for steel works.

3.0 PERSONAL INVOLVED

TITLE: METHOD STATEMENT FOR PAINTING WORKS

5.0 WORK PROCEDURES.

 Preparation

 Hardware materials which are already fixed and not to be painted shall be
removed. Removal if not possible, it shall be covered/protected appropriately
before surface preparation and painting will commence.

 Clean and prepare steel surface to be painted. Efflorescence, chalk, dust, dirt,
grease and oils shall be removed.

 The surface of the area to be painted would be prepared by removing loose

particles, blemishes and deleterious materials by way of sanding.

a. Paint Application:

 One coat of shop applied coating would be applied. Each coat shall have an
interval time of 4 hours for curing. Before the application of further coatings,
sanding would be done for cleaning and removing of splattered, blemishes
and stains on the painted surface.

 Then two coats of shop applied coating would be applied as per the approved
specification and color.

 A final coating of shop-applied paint would be applied as per the approved

specification and color.

6.0 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

a. The persons involved shall inspect and examines the site and its surroundings, and
fields check all details in the drawings prior to commencement of work defined in
the scope of work.
b. To brief all workers regarding safety requirement at site and working at height area.
All workers must strictly follow the safety rules and regulations as outlined in the
safety and health manual.
c. Plan and maintain a tidy site and work area
d. Prevent workers from unnecessary risk.
e. Always maintain all equipment in good working order.
f. Basic PPE to be worn by all staff or laborers.
g. All operatives involve in this work shall be inducted before entering the site.
h. Tool box talk shall be conducted regularly.
